Click Engineered Wood Flooring
Click engineered wood is real oak with a click-lock joint on each board, designed to be installed as a floating floor without glue. The boards lock into one another along the long and short edges, sit on an underlay rather than being bonded to the subfloor, and can be lifted and re-laid if you ever need to. Click systems have made engineered wood much more accessible to retrofit projects — no waiting for adhesive to cure, no specialist subfloor preparation in most cases, and faster installation than tongue-and-groove.
At Grosvenor Flooring we cover the click engineered wood category across both GF by Grosvenor Flooring and V4 Wood Flooring — most ranges are available with a click joint, including the V4 plank collections.

Click vs Tongue and Groove
Click engineered wood floats over an underlay, locks together mechanically and is installed without glue. Tongue and groove is the traditional joint where each board is glued to its neighbour and either fully bonded to the subfloor or floated with an underlay depending on spec. T&G is the more traditional installation; click is faster, retrofit-friendly and easier for DIY-capable installers, though we still recommend a professional fitter for any premium oak project.
When Click Is the Right Choice
Retrofit projects, rental properties, anywhere the existing subfloor needs to stay in place and any room where you need the floor laid quickly. Click is also the right call where there is no opportunity to bond a tongue-and-groove floor to the subfloor — for example over an existing floor finish that you do not want to remove.
Construction & Underfloor Heating
Multi-ply core, real oak wear layer, full UFH compatibility (max 27°C surface temperature, follow standard install guidelines).

Click engineered wood can be installed over most clean, dry, and level subfloors. Our experts can advise on subfloor preparation to ensure a smooth and stable base for your new floor.
How does click engineered wood flooring handle temperature changes?
The multi-layered construction of engineered wood flooring makes it highly stable and resistant to the warping and gapping that can occur with temperature and humidity changes. This is why it is an ideal choice for use with underfloor heating systems.
