V4 Alpine Wood Flooring

V4 Alpine is V4’s original engineered wood flooring collection — a calm, characterful range of rustic-grade European oak planks finished with V4’s own pure oils and lacquers. Where the Deco range pushes design intent and Tundra pushes format variety, Alpine is the V4 collection to specify when you want a timeless wide-plank oak floor that suits everything from traditional cottages to transitional new-build interiors. It’s been one of V4’s most consistently specified ranges since the brand’s earliest catalogues.

Alpine is supplied through Grosvenor Flooring as an Approved V4 Gold Account retailer — V4’s premium retail tier — covering the UK with supply-and-fit available across Altrincham, Manchester and Cheshire. Pricing is on a Request a Price basis; we’ll quote you a single all-in price including V4’s direct delivery to your address, and we’ll beat any genuine competitor quote you’ve already received. Get in touch via our enquiry form, WhatsApp or by phone.

About V4 Alpine

Alpine is built around a single design idea: a wide rustic-grade European oak plank that doesn’t try to be anything it isn’t. The boards carry visible knots, mineral streaks and grain character — the kind of natural variation that gives a wood floor its life — and the colours sit in a warm, mid-tone register designed to age into the room rather than dominate it. V4’s pure-oil and lacquered finishes are applied in-house, which gives the collection a consistency you don’t always get when finishes are factory-bought rather than factory-made.

The result is a wide-board oak floor that looks at home in a 1920s townhouse, a country property or a contemporary build — versatility being the quiet superpower of the Alpine range.

Designs in the Collection

Alpine covers a focused palette of rustic-grade oak planks finished in pure oils and lacquers. The full live design list and current product codes are best viewed on the collection page below — V4 occasionally adds or refreshes shades, and the live page reflects the current range available through Grosvenor.

Why Choose V4 Alpine?

Alpine is the V4 collection most often specified when the brief is “a beautiful real-wood floor that just works”. You’re getting V4’s engineered construction, V4’s own-finish oils and lacquers, and the V4 35-year domestic guarantee — all backed by the brand’s full network of supply, fitting and aftersales support through approved retailers. If you’re choosing between Alpine and another premium engineered oak range, Alpine usually wins on quiet design confidence rather than on a single headline feature.

Where to Use V4 Alpine

Alpine is suitable for the typical UK living spaces where engineered oak performs best — lounges, dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways, kitchens and offices. It’s not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms or conservatories with heavy temperature swings. For wet areas we’d usually steer clients towards luxury vinyl flooring instead.

Underfloor Heating

Alpine is compatible with water-based underfloor heating subject to V4’s standard rules — a 27°C maximum surface temperature, gradual commissioning before installation, and heat output matched to the floor build-up. Mention UFH when you request a price and we’ll match the floor build-up to your system.

Frequently Asked Questions

What grade of oak is used in V4 Alpine, and what does that mean for the look?

Alpine is built on a rustic-grade European oak top layer. The boards carry visible knots, mineral streaks and grain character rather than the cleaner appearance of a prime-grade floor. This is the look most buyers want from a real-wood floor; it gives the boards depth, variation and a sense of natural character that a prime-grade or AB-grade floor doesn't have. If you want a calmer, more uniform look, Tundra XL Herringbone uses a cleaner AB grade.

What's the difference between the oiled and lacquered finishes in Alpine?

V4 finishes Alpine in either pure oils or UV-cured lacquers, applied in-house. Oiled floors have a softer, more matte appearance and feel slightly warmer underfoot; they need occasional re-oiling over the floor's life and can be spot-repaired more easily if marked. Lacquered floors have a slightly higher sheen, are tougher against day-to-day scuffs and require less ongoing maintenance, but spot repairs are harder. The choice usually comes down to preferred appearance plus how hands-on you want to be with maintenance, and we'll talk you through both options when you request a price.

Will V4 Alpine work in a period property?

Yes. Alpine's rustic-grade European oak and traditional finish palette make it one of V4's most consistently specified ranges for period properties, listed buildings and traditional cottages. The wide-plank format reads as authentic in older interiors, and the colour palette is designed to age into the room rather than dominate it. For a more pronounced rustic look, also consider V4 Urban Nature, which adds distressed surface features to the same European oak base.

Can V4 Alpine be installed over underfloor heating?

Yes. Alpine is compatible with water-based underfloor heating subject to V4's standard rules: a 27 degree Celsius maximum surface temperature, gradual commissioning of the heating system before the floor is laid, and heat output matched to the floor build-up. Mention UFH when you request a price and we'll match the floor build-up to your system specification before quoting.
