V4 Driftwood Wood Flooring

V4 Driftwood is V4’s extra-long board collection — slender, elongated European oak planks with tactile brushed surfaces and lacquer finishes inspired by weathered driftwood. Where most wide-plank engineered oak is built around a standard board length, Driftwood is deliberately longer, narrower and more horizontal in feel — a format that reads as relaxed, architectural and quietly contemporary in larger rooms. Most of the collection ships with V4’s 5Gc glue-free locking system, which means it can be installed as a click floor or fully bonded depending on the project.

Driftwood is supplied through Grosvenor Flooring as an Approved V4 Gold Account retailer — V4’s premium retail tier — covering the UK with supply-and-fit available across Altrincham, Manchester and Cheshire. Pricing is on a Request a Price basis; we’ll quote a single all-in price including V4’s direct delivery to your address, and we’ll beat any genuine competitor quote you’ve already received. About V4 Driftwood

Driftwood is built around a single design idea: take a wide-plank engineered oak floor and stretch it. The boards are notably longer than the V4 standard plank format, which has two effects in the room — sightlines lengthen, and the floor reads as quieter and more horizontal because there are fewer board joins per square metre. The brushed surfaces add a soft, tactile texture; the weathered-driftwood lacquers in the colour palette move the floor away from the warmer mid-oak tones of Alpine and into a calmer, paler register.

The 5Gc click system on most Driftwood boards is a quiet but useful feature — it means the same floor can be installed as a glueless click installation (faster, lifts again if needed) or fully bonded for the firmest underfoot feel.

Designs in the Collection

Driftwood covers a focused palette of extra-long brushed oak planks in weathered-lacquer finishes. The full live design list and current product codes are best viewed on the collection page — V4 occasionally adds or refreshes shades, and the live page reflects the current range available through Grosvenor.

Why Choose V4 Driftwood?

Driftwood is the V4 collection most often specified for larger rooms where the buyer wants the floor to feel architectural rather than busy. The extra-long board format suits open-plan kitchens and living spaces especially well — the long sightlines amplify the sense of space rather than chopping it up with shorter board joins. The 5Gc click option gives flexibility on install method without compromising the underfoot feel of a fully-bonded floor.

Where to Use V4 Driftwood

Driftwood is suitable for the typical UK living spaces where engineered oak performs best — lounges, dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways, kitchens and offices, and is particularly effective in larger open-plan rooms where its long-board format earns its design premium. As with all real-wood flooring, it’s not recommended for bathrooms, wet rooms or conservatories with heavy temperature swings. For wet areas we’d usually steer clients towards luxury vinyl flooring instead.

Underfloor Heating

Driftwood is compatible with water-based underfloor heating subject to V4’s standard rules — a 27°C maximum surface temperature, gradual commissioning before installation, and heat output matched to the floor build-up. The 5Gc click installation method generally works well over UFH provided the floating-floor expansion gaps are correctly specified — we’ll factor that in when we quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the style of V4 Driftwood flooring?

V4 Driftwood typically features a contemporary style inspired by weathered, natural wood. Finishes often involve brushing and staining (particularly greys and washed tones) to create a textured, coastal, or modern rustic aesthetic in a plank format.

Is V4 Driftwood suitable for underfloor heating?

Yes, like most V4 engineered wood flooring, the Driftwood range is suitable for installation over underfloor heating systems (both water and electric types), provided the surface temperature does not exceed 27°C and installation follows V4's guidelines.

What is the typical wear layer thickness for V4 Driftwood?

The V4 Driftwood range commonly features a solid European Oak wear layer that is 2.5mm thick, bonded to an engineered core, resulting in an overall plank thickness often around 14mm.

How is V4 Driftwood flooring installed?

Installation methods can vary within the Driftwood range. Some products use a traditional Tongue & Groove profile which can be floated over underlay or fully bonded with adhesive. Others may feature a 5G-C locking system designed for easier floating installation. Always check the specific product details.
