Dining Room LVT Flooring
The dining room is the room where dragged chair legs and dropped wine glasses live, and it is almost always the room visually next to the kitchen, the lounge or both. Luxury vinyl flooring is the right product for almost every dining room we quote on, and the spec we recommend is normally a glue-down format with a 0.3mm or 0.55mm wear layer that runs continuously through to the adjoining rooms with no threshold strip.
At Grosvenor Flooring we stock the full dining-room-suitable LVT libraries from Amtico, Karndean, Project Floors and Invictus, plus our own GF LVT range. Browse the full collection below or get in touch via our enquiry form, WhatsApp or phone for a same-working-day quote.
Why LVT Suits a Dining Room
The dining room has two specific challenges. First, dragged chair legs scratch wood floors and embed in carpet — LVT’s clear PVC wear layer absorbs this far better than either alternative, especially with felt pads on the chair feet. Second, spilled food and wine wipe straight off LVT and never penetrate, where they will stain a real wood or fibre floor permanently. Add the comfort and warmth advantages over real tile, and LVT becomes the obvious answer for a room that has to look like a premium finish but live with daily wear.
Wear Layer — 0.3mm or 0.55mm
Per square metre, the dining room is a low-traffic room — most of the wear is concentrated under and around the table. 0.3mm is enough wear layer for a dining room used in normal family service. Step up to 0.55mm if the dining room is part of a continuous-floor specification with a kitchen or hallway, or if you want the longer warranty across the whole ground floor.
Install Format — Glue Down by Default
For a dining room we specify glue down LVT by default for new builds and full refurbs, because the continuous bond gives you the flattest finish and lets you run the floor uninterrupted into the adjoining rooms. Click rigid-core LVT is the right answer for retrofits where the existing floor cannot easily be lifted. Both formats are UFH-compatible.
The Dining Room Ranges We Stock
Karndean Knight Tile and Amtico Spacia — the two most popular 0.3mm glue-down ranges for a dining room.
Karndean Art Select and Karndean Van Gogh — premium glue-down at 0.55mm for higher-spec dining rooms tying into a kitchen or hallway.
Amtico Form — herringbone and parquet glue down at 0.55mm. A feature herringbone in a dining room is one of the strongest design statements LVT can make.
Amtico Signature — Amtico’s flagship at 1mm wear layer for the highest-end dining specifications.
Project Floors Herringbone and Project Floors Chevron — German contract-grade glue down for designer specifications.
GF LVT — our own-brand glue down at premium European spec, sharp pricing, full online checkout and free samples.
Wood-Effect, Parquet and Herringbone
Almost every dining room LVT we sell is a wood-effect design — and the dining room is the room where parquet and herringbone come into their own. Our wood-effect parquet, chevron and herringbone selections are all worth a look for the room that gets the most attention from dinner guests.
Underfloor Heating
UFH is a strong pairing for a dining room — no cold floor under bare feet at Sunday lunch. Every glue-down range we stock is compatible with both wet and electric UFH up to a maximum surface temperature of 27°C. Acclimatise the boxes for 48 hours and follow the manufacturer’s commissioning sequence.
Continuous-Floor Story
The dining room is almost always part of a wider open-plan ground-floor specification. Run the same plank from the kitchen through the dining area into the lounge with no threshold strips and the room reads as a single, much more expensive, finished space.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will dining chairs leave marks on my LVT floor?
High-quality LVT is highly resistant to scratches and scuffs from chairs. To provide extra protection, we recommend using felt pads or floor protectors on the legs of your dining chairs. This is a good practice for any hard flooring and will ensure your floor remains in pristine condition.
How should I clean food and drink spills from my LVT floor?
LVT is very easy to clean. Food and drink spills can be simply wiped up with a damp cloth or mop. The non-porous, waterproof surface of LVT prevents liquids from soaking in, so you don't have to worry about staining or damage.
Is LVT flooring noisy when chairs are moved?
Compared to ceramic tiles or real wood, LVT is much quieter. Its layered construction and the slight give of the material help to absorb sound. For a quieter dining experience, you can also use felt pads on chair legs, which will further reduce any noise from movement.
