Hallway LVT Flooring
The hallway is the floor every visitor sees first and the floor that takes more grit, water, salt and dragged shoes than any other room in the house. Luxury vinyl flooring is the right product for almost every hallway we quote on, and the spec we recommend nine times out of ten is a 0.55mm or 0.7mm wear layer in a glue-down format that runs continuously through to the kitchen, utility and lounge.
At Grosvenor Flooring we stock the full hallway-suitable LVT libraries from Amtico, Karndean, Project Floors and Invictus, plus our own GF LVT range. Browse the full hallway collection below or get in touch via our enquiry form, WhatsApp or phone for a same-working-day quote.
Why Hallways Are the Hardest Domestic Floor
Per square metre, the hallway sees more footfall than any other room in the house — every trip in or out of the house, every visitor, every delivery, every dog walk crosses the hall. It is also the room where most outdoor grit lands first, where wet shoes drip on a winter morning, and where dragged suitcases, prams and bicycles all live for short bursts. The hallway is the room that exposes a flooring product’s wear layer faster than any other and the room where indenting and scratching show up first. LVT, with the right wear layer, handles all of it without compromise — and unlike carpet (the traditional hallway answer), LVT actually looks better at year ten than year one because the dirt does not embed in it.
Wear Layer — 0.55mm or 0.7mm
For a hallway we always recommend stepping up from the standard 0.3mm spec. 0.55mm is the right answer for a typical family hallway — Karndean Art Select, Karndean Van Gogh and Amtico Form all sit here with 25-year domestic warranties. 0.7mm is the right answer for a hallway in a busy household with school-age children, dogs, or a holiday-let turnover, and 1mm is right for hallways in commercial settings.
Install Format — Glue Down by Default
For a hallway we specify glue down LVT by default. Glue down handles the point loads, runs continuously through to adjoining rooms with no threshold strip, and gives you a perfectly stable floor right at the front door — the spot where any floating click floor sees the most stress and the most water. Click LVT is acceptable on a retrofit where the existing floor cannot be lifted, but it is not the default for a new install.
The Hallway Ranges We Stock
Karndean Art Select and Karndean Van Gogh — Karndean’s two flagship glue-down ranges at 0.55mm wear layer. The default premium choice for a hallway tying into a Karndean kitchen or lounge.
Amtico Signature — flagship Amtico glue down with the full design library and a 1mm wear layer. The toughest premium-domestic LVT we stock.
Amtico Form — Amtico’s parquet and herringbone glue down at 0.55mm. A feature herringbone in a hallway is one of the most popular specifications we sell.
Invictus Maximus — heavy-spec European glue-down at 0.7mm wear layer for high-traffic hallways.
Project Floors Wood Plank Collection and Project Floors Herringbone — German contract-grade glue down used by designers on commercial fit-outs.
GF LVT — our own-brand glue down. Premium European spec, sharp pricing, full online checkout and free samples.
Underfloor Heating
UFH is increasingly common in hallway extensions and new-build entrances — no cold-tile shock at the front door. Every glue-down range we stock is compatible with both wet and electric UFH up to a maximum surface temperature of 27°C. Acclimatise the boxes for 48 hours and follow the manufacturer’s commissioning sequence.
Continuous-Floor Story — Hallway Through to Everywhere
The hallway is the room that connects everything else. The most expensive-looking specification is to run the same plank from the front door through into the kitchen, utility, dining room and lounge with no threshold strips. Pick the wear layer for the hallway (the hardest-traffic part) and run it through.
Subfloor and Install Notes
Hallway subfloors are often the most varied in the house — original Victorian timber boards, suspended floor over voids, screed extensions, or a mix of all three. The fitter has to assess each section, level the joints, and prime correctly before any adhesive goes down. Our own teams handle prep and install on every supply-and-fit project across Cheshire and South Manchester.

Frequently Asked Questions
How well does LVT hold up against heavy foot traffic in a hallway?
LVT is an excellent choice for high-traffic hallways. Its robust wear layer is specifically designed to resist scratches, scuffs, and general abrasion from shoes and constant footfall. For best results, we recommend a wear layer of at least 0.4mm to ensure long-term durability in this demanding area.
Is it easy to clean mud and dirt from LVT?
Yes, it's very easy. LVT has a smooth, non-porous surface that doesn't trap dirt like carpet. Mud, grit, and water can be simply swept or wiped up with a damp mop, keeping your hallway clean and hygienic with minimal effort.
How does LVT compare to wood or laminate for a hallway?
LVT is a far more durable and practical choice. Unlike real wood and laminate, it is completely waterproof and won't swell or warp from moisture. It is also more resistant to scratches and dents, making it a much more hard-wearing and low-maintenance option for a busy hallway.
