Where Can Karndean Van Gogh Rigid Core Be Used?

With a 0.55mm wear layer and a fully waterproof SPC core, Van Gogh Rigid Core is suitable for all residential rooms without restriction — kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms, hallways, living rooms, bedrooms and open-plan spaces. It is a natural fit for whole-home projects where a single flooring product is being specified throughout. The rigid core construction also makes it well suited to renovation projects where you need to fit over an existing hard subfloor with minimal preparation.

For light commercial use — small offices, boutiques or consultancy rooms — Van Gogh Rigid Core will perform well, though heavier commercial environments should look to a dedicated commercial product. For the thickest wear layer and the most premium finish in the Karndean residential range, Karndean Art Select is the step up.

Van Gogh Rigid Core Design Range and Herringbone

Van Gogh is known for design variety. The plank range covers pale limed and bleached oaks, warmer mid-tone oaks and walnuts, and darker smoked and aged finishes. Surface textures are detailed and follow the grain of each design closely, giving a convincing underfoot impression. Bevelled edges, where present, reinforce the sense of individual planks rather than a continuous sheet.

The Van Gogh Rigid Core collection also includes a herringbone format, which has become one of the most popular Karndean finishes over the last few years. The herringbone boards are sized and engineered specifically for the pattern, and the click-lock system makes installation significantly less technical than a traditional glue-down herringbone. If you want the look of a Karndean parquet floor but prefer a faster, cleaner installation, Van Gogh Rigid Core herringbone is the obvious choice.

Van Gogh Rigid Core Warranty and Installation

Karndean Van Gogh Rigid Core carries a 20-year residential warranty when installed by a Karndean Approved Retailer using the correct methods. The rigid core construction means subfloor preparation is less demanding than with glue-down LVT, but the substrate should still be clean, broadly level and dry. The pre-attached acoustic underlay removes the need for a separate underlay product and helps reduce impact sound between floors.

The range is fully compatible with both wet and electric underfloor heating systems, subject to a maximum surface temperature of 27°C. Always follow Karndean’s specific guidance for underfloor heating installations and for fitting over existing floors to ensure warranty compliance.
