Glue-down LVT, sometimes called dryback, is luxury vinyl tile installed by spreading a flooring adhesive across a prepared subfloor and bonding each plank or tile directly to it. There is no click joint, no underlay and no perimeter expansion gap, so the floor behaves as a single continuous, dimensionally stable surface that sits flush to skirtings, doorways and units.

It depends on budget and use. The premium flagships are Amtico Signature (1.0mm wear layer, lifetime warranty) and Karndean Art Select (0.7mm, lifetime); the mid-range all-rounders are Karndean Van Gogh, Amtico Spacia and Amtico Form; and the accessible entry points are Karndean Knight Tile and Amtico First. For heavy or hospitality traffic, Invictus Ultimus (0.7mm) is the toughest we stock.

For most homes, yes. Glue-down is more stable, sits flatter and lower at thresholds, transfers underfloor heat more efficiently and carries the premium design libraries, which is why designers specify it by default. Click LVT is the better choice only for retrofits where the existing floor cannot be lifted or where a fast, adhesive-free floating fit is the priority.

It requires a well-prepared one. The subfloor must be flat, clean, dry and primed, because any bump, dip or moisture will telegraph through to the surface. This is why glue-down is best installed by an experienced fitter who can level and prepare the base properly and it is one reason it produces such a durable, long-lasting floor.

Yes. Because each plank is bonded individually, a damaged plank can be warmed, lifted and replaced without disturbing the rest of the floor, which is harder to do on a floating click floor where boards are locked together. Keeping a few spare planks from the original order makes this straightforward.

Yes, it is the format underfloor heating manufacturers recommend. Bonding the planks continuously to the subfloor removes the insulating air gap of a floating floor, so heat transfers efficiently. All the glue-down ranges we stock work with wet and electric underfloor heating up to a maximum surface temperature of 27C.
