Polyflor Flooring

About Polyflor Flooring

Polyflor has been manufacturing resilient flooring in the UK since 1915. The company is headquartered in Whitefield, Manchester, where the majority of its LVT, sheet vinyl, safety flooring and commercial flooring is produced. Unlike most flooring brands sold in the UK, Polyflor designs and manufactures domestically rather than importing – a Made in Britain credential that matters increasingly in commercial procurement and increasingly in residential buying decisions too.

The Polyflor product strategy is distinct from the other major UK LVT brands. Where Karndean and Amtico lead with premium residential glue-down and treat commercial as a sub-segment, Polyflor leads with commercial specification and treats Camaro as its residential gateway range. The flagship Expona Design carries a 0.7mm wear layer and a heavy-industrial use-area rating of 43 – the highest commercial classification possible. Expona Control is patent-protected safety LVT with EN 13845 enhanced slip resistance, specified into restaurants, supermarkets, care homes and hospitality projects across the UK.

That commercial heritage flows back into the residential ranges too. Camaro is rated for residential heavy plus light commercial use; Camaro Rigid Core adds a 1mm integral IXPE acoustic underlay for 18 decibels of impact sound reduction, which is the kind of acoustic specification you do not normally see in a residential-priced LVT. The result is a brand that offers genuine commercial-grade build quality at residential price points, which is one of the reasons Polyflor has built a strong loyal buyer base across both audiences.

Every Polyflor LVT range is finished with the brand’s PUR (polyurethane reinforcement) surface treatment, which gives the floor its long-term polish-free maintenance profile. The range is also strong on sustainability – BRE Green Guide A or A+ across the line-up, 100 percent recyclable, up to 40 percent recycled content, Indoor Air Comfort Gold certified, FloorScore certified and Finnish M1 classified. For commercial projects with sustainability targets, Polyflor is one of the few UK manufacturers whose credentials stack up at specification stage.

The Polyflor LVT Range

Polyflor produces eight current LVT ranges. Each one targets a different use intensity, design preference and installation method. The right range depends on whether the project is residential or commercial, whether you need glue-down or click installation, and how heavy the wear is going to be.

Polyflor Camaro is the residential glue-down range and the brand’s most-searched product family. A 2.5mm gauge dryback LVT with a 0.3mm wear layer, the Camaro PUR collection includes more than 80 wood and stone designs across plank and tile formats, including parquet variants like Cambridge Parquet and Georgian Parquet. Camaro is residential-led but rated for residential heavy use, making it suitable for kitchens, hallways, utility rooms and bathrooms in family homes.

Polyflor Camaro Rigid Core is the click-installation alternative to Camaro PUR, using the same brand identity and overlapping design library in a thicker SPC click format. Camaro Rigid Core is 5.5mm thick with a 0.3mm wear layer, a Valinge 5G press-fit locking system, integral IXPE acoustic underlay for 18 decibels of impact sound reduction, and 100 percent waterproof construction. The 30-design range covers wood-effect, stone-effect and herringbone formats including Naked Blond Oak Herringbone, Waterside Oak Herringbone, Westchester Oak Herringbone and Astoria Oak Herringbone. Best suited to retrofits, upstairs rooms in family homes and any project where lifting the existing floor is not practical.

Polyflor Colonia is the entry-tier glue-down LVT in the Polyflor range and the strongest parquet design library in the brand. A 2.0mm gauge dryback with a 0.2mm wear layer, Colonia carries 28 wood, stone, slate and marble designs including a dedicated set of large parquet formats (Bridgewater Oak, Delamere Oak, Hamilton Oak, Fairmont Oak) and small parquet formats (Wisteria Oak, Bloomfield Oak, Midsummer Oak, Village Oak). Rated for residential moderate use, Colonia is the right Polyflor range for lower-traffic residential rooms and design-led parquet installations where budget is a factor.

Polyflor Affinity 255 is a heavy-commercial-plus-residential single-wide-plank dryback LVT with a 2.0mm gauge and a 0.55mm wear layer. The range is supplied in one plank format only (184.2mm x 1219.2mm), giving the visually clean single-plank-width look architects often specify. Rated for residential heavy, commercial heavy and light industrial use, Affinity 255 covers 16 rustic timber designs from Aspen Pine through Smoked Walnut and is one of the Polyflor ranges with full BIM assets for Revit-based specification.

Polyflor Expona Commercial is the heavy-commercial workhorse range with the largest design library in the brand – 80 designs across wood, stone, abstract, metal, terrazzo and concrete effects, plus Versailles parquet formats. A 2.5mm gauge dryback with a 0.55mm wear layer, Expona Commercial is rated for residential heavy, commercial heavy and light industrial use. Multiple plank and tile sizes including 609.6mm x 1219.2mm large-format tiles. BIM assets available. Specified into offices, retail, hospitality and education projects throughout the UK.

Polyflor Expona Design is the brand’s flagship commercial range, with a 3.0mm gauge, 0.7mm wear layer and the highest commercial classification in the Polyflor line-up (use area 23, 34, 43 – heavy industrial). The 30-design collection includes premium wood effects (Promenade Oak, Parkside Oak, Whiskey Barrel Timber, Salvaged Pier Timber, Reclaimed Inked Oak), stone effects (Pearl Stone, Medina Stone, Atlantic Slate, Charcoal Slate) and contemporary stencil concrete and geotexture designs. Specified into the most demanding commercial environments – airports, healthcare, premium retail, hospitality.

Polyflor Expona Control is the safety LVT in the Polyflor range – the slip-resistant successor product for buyers who would historically have specified safety sheet vinyl. A 2.5mm gauge dryback with a 0.7mm wear layer and EN 13845 enhanced slip resistance, Expona Control achieves a Pendulum Test score of 36 or higher (wet test, 4S Rubber/Slider 96) and a sustained surface roughness of Rz greater than 20 micrometres. The 14-design range covers Portland Stone, Classic Limestone, Cambrian Stone, Warm Grey Concrete plus wood-effect plank options. The R10 slip rating with enhanced ESfRR classification makes Expona Control the spec to reach for in restaurants, supermarkets, care homes and any wet-area commercial application where buyer safety and insurance compliance matter. If you previously specified Polyflor Polysafe sheet vinyl, Expona Control is the LVT alternative.

Polyflor Expona Bevel Line rounds out the commercial range with a 2.5mm gauge, 0.55mm wear layer dryback LVT that adds a distinctive bevelled edge detail to every plank and tile. Available in multiple narrow plank sizes including 76.2mm x 914.4mm (suitable for herringbone-style narrow layouts) through to large-format 203.2mm x 1219.2mm planks. BIM assets available. Rated 23, 33, 42 for heavy commercial use.

Polyflor for Residential Projects

For residential buyers, the entry point to Polyflor is the Camaro range. Camaro PUR is the dryback glue-down version with the largest design library and the strongest visual realism in the residential price band. Camaro Rigid Core is the click-installation alternative for projects where lifting the existing floor is not practical or where the integral IXPE acoustic underlay matters – upstairs rooms, apartments and any first-floor or multi-storey installation where impact sound to the room below is a consideration. The 18 decibel impact sound reduction figure on Camaro Rigid Core is unusual at this price point and is one of the strongest USPs in the residential Polyflor range.

For period-property or lower-traffic residential rooms where budget matters, Colonia is the entry-tier glue-down with the most extensive parquet design library Polyflor produces. For premium residential projects that benefit from a heavier wear layer and a single wide-plank visual, Affinity 255 offers the 0.55mm wear layer and 184.2mm plank width architects often specify for open-plan ground floors.

Polyflor for Commercial Projects

Polyflor is the commercial LVT brand of choice for many UK specifiers because the range covers every commercial use intensity from light office through to heavy industrial, with full BIM assets available on four ranges (Affinity 255, Expona Commercial, Expona Design, Expona Bevel Line) for architects working in Revit. Expona Commercial is the workhorse 80-design heavy-commercial range; Expona Design is the flagship 0.7mm wear layer flooring for the most demanding installations; Expona Bevel Line offers the same heavy-commercial wear layer with a distinct bevelled-edge visual; and Expona Control is the patent-protected safety LVT for restaurants, supermarkets, care homes and any wet-area commercial environment.

For commercial buyers who previously specified Polyflor Polysafe sheet vinyl – the safety sheet vinyl ranges that have been progressively replaced by safety LVT – Expona Control is the direct successor product. Same Polyflor brand, same safety standards (EN 13845 enhanced slip resistance, Pendulum 36+, R10 slip rating), in a luxury vinyl tile format rather than sheet.

Sustainability credentials are strong across the commercial range: BRE Green Guide A or A+, Indoor Air Comfort Gold, FloorScore certified, 100 percent recyclable, up to 40 percent recycled content, REACH compliant. For projects with named sustainability targets – BREEAM, WELL, LEED – Polyflor is one of the few UK manufacturers whose documentation stack supports specification at the credentials-evidence stage.

Polyflor and Underfloor Heating

All Polyflor LVT ranges are compatible with both wet (hydronic) and electric underfloor heating systems, subject to Polyflor’s maximum surface temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. The dryback ranges (Camaro PUR, Colonia, Affinity 255, Expona Commercial, Expona Design, Expona Control, Expona Bevel Line) give the best heat transfer over UFH because the floor is fully bonded to the screed with no intermediate layer. Camaro Rigid Core is also UFH-compatible with the same 27 degree surface limit; the integral IXPE acoustic underlay slightly reduces heat transfer relative to dryback installation but performance remains good. Always commission UFH systems gradually after installation and use a floor probe rather than a room thermostat to maintain the surface temperature within Polyflor’s recommended range.
