What is Polyflor Camaro?

Polyflor Camaro is a luxury vinyl tile (LVT) range designed and manufactured by Polyflor at their Whitefield, Manchester factory. Every Camaro plank or tile is glue-down (dryback) construction, bonded directly to a prepared subfloor using Polyflor’s approved adhesive system. The gauge is 2.5mm, the wear layer is 0.3mm, and the surface is finished with Polyflor’s PUR coating that gives the floor its long-term polish-free maintenance profile.

Camaro sits at Polyflor’s mainstream residential price point. It is the brand’s deepest design library in the residential category – more than 80 wood and stone designs covering everything from classic British oak through to coastal driftwood, traditional parquet patterns, slate-effect tiles and contemporary cement looks. The design range is what makes Camaro the residential default – whatever interior scheme you are matching, there is almost always a Camaro design that fits.

The Polyflor Camaro Design Library

Camaro’s wood-effect range covers warm British oaks (Boathouse Oak 2242, Natural Oak 2232, Cashmere Oak 2244, Quayside Oak 2246, Sienna Oak 2248), lighter Scandinavian-leaning tones (Bianco Oak 2241), darker rustic options (Salvaged Timber 2247, Wild Amber Oak 2249), and modern pale finishes (Astoria Oak 2259, Fenland Oak 2258, Rosedale Oak 2254, Bayswater Oak 2261).

The stone-effect range covers Atlantic Slate 2339, Arctic Slate 2341, Ocean Slate 2319, Burnished Concrete 2342, Tribeca Cement 2348 and White Metalstone 2332 – useful for kitchens, utility rooms, bathrooms and entrance halls where a stone aesthetic suits the room better than wood.

Camaro is also one of the strongest Polyflor ranges for parquet layouts. The dedicated parquet formats include Cambridge Parquet (2251), Georgian Parquet (2252), Westchester Oak Large Parquet (LPQ2253), Waterside Oak Large Parquet (LPQ2256) and Naked Blond Oak Large Parquet (LPQ2257). Each parquet variant is supplied at a specific plank size designed for the herringbone or parquet pattern, so the installer is working with a product engineered for the layout rather than trying to cut standard planks down.

Where Polyflor Camaro Works Best

Camaro is the Polyflor range we specify most often for whole-home residential projects, kitchen-diner refurbishments, hallway-and-utility runs and family-home installations where the floor needs to look right, hold up to everyday wear and fit a sensible budget. The 80+ design library means a Camaro option almost always exists in the colour and texture the buyer is shopping for, and the 0.3mm PUR-finished wear layer gives 15-20 years of normal residential life when correctly installed and looked after.

Camaro is rated for light commercial use as well as residential, which makes it a sensible choice for small-scale commercial environments – boutique retail, small offices, hairdressers, treatment rooms – where commercial specification is helpful but the full Expona Commercial 0.55mm wear layer is over-spec. For heavier commercial environments where the use intensity is genuinely commercial, step up to Expona Commercial (0.55mm) or Expona Design (0.7mm).

Camaro vs Camaro Rigid Core

Camaro (glue-down) and Camaro Rigid Core (click) share the Polyflor Camaro brand and overlapping design library, but they install differently and suit different project types.

Choose Camaro PUR (glue-down) when the project is starting from a stripped-back subfloor, you want the thinnest finish at thresholds, the design you want is only available in the dryback library (parquet formats and several stone designs), or you are doing a whole-home installation where the seamless dryback finish matters. Glue-down also gives better heat transfer over UFH.

Choose Camaro Rigid Core when you are retrofitting over an existing floor you do not want to lift, the room is upstairs or in a multi-storey property where the integral IXPE underlay’s 18 decibel impact sound reduction matters, you want a herringbone layout in a click-installation format (Camaro Rigid Core includes dedicated herringbone designs: Naked Blond Oak Herringbone RPQ4144, Waterside Oak Herringbone RPQ4143, Westchester Oak Herringbone RPQ4141, Astoria Oak Herringbone RPQ4147), or you are looking for a DIY-friendly installation.

Polyflor used to offer a click version of Camaro called Camaro Loc; this range has been discontinued and replaced by Camaro Rigid Core, which uses a more modern Valinge 5G press-fit locking system and adds the integral IXPE acoustic underlay. If you have arrived here looking for Camaro Loc, Camaro Rigid Core is the current product.

How Polyflor Camaro Compares to Karndean and Amtico

Polyflor Camaro is most often cross-shopped with Karndean Knight Tile and Amtico Spacia or Amtico First. All three are residential-tier glue-down LVT ranges at similar price points. The key differences:

Camaro vs Karndean Knight Tile: Knight Tile is 2.0mm gauge with a 0.3mm wear layer; Camaro is 2.5mm gauge with a 0.3mm wear layer. Camaro’s larger design library (80+ vs Knight Tile’s residential design count) gives broader colour choice, and Polyflor’s UK manufacturing is a credential Karndean cannot match (Karndean produces in Vietnam, Korea and elsewhere). Karndean’s brand authority in residential is stronger – Knight Tile remains the most-specified residential LVT in the UK by volume – but Camaro is genuinely competitive on specification.

Camaro vs Amtico Spacia: Spacia is 2.0mm gauge with a 0.3mm wear layer and a different design library style (Amtico’s design system, including stone-abstracts and bordered formats). Camaro is the cheaper option per square metre, and the Polyflor PUR surface treatment performs comparably to Amtico’s Quantum Guard in everyday residential use. For design flexibility and bespoke border work, Spacia still wins; for value within a strong design library, Camaro is the better residential choice.

For supply and fit projects across Altrincham, Manchester and Cheshire, contact us with room measurements for a fitted quote. Pattern layouts (Cambridge Parquet, Georgian Parquet, Naked Blond Oak Large Parquet) typically add to fitting cost relative to straight-lay plank because of the additional cutting and skill required. For project-scale orders or commercial Camaro specifications, contact our team directly.

Polyflor Camaro and Underfloor Heating

Camaro is fully compatible with both wet (hydronic) and electric underfloor heating systems subject to Polyflor’s maximum surface temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. As a dryback product, Camaro gives excellent heat transfer over UFH because there is no intermediate underlayment between the screed and the floor surface. Use a floor probe rather than a room thermostat to maintain the surface temperature within range, and commission the UFH gradually after installation following Polyflor’s UFH-specific guidance.

For UFH installations where the integral acoustic underlay on Camaro Rigid Core is preferred over Camaro PUR’s pure dryback heat transfer, see the Camaro Rigid Core sub-category.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Polyflor Camaro PUR waterproof?

Yes, Polyflor Camaro PUR is 100% waterproof, making it an excellent flooring choice for areas prone to moisture and spills, such as kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms, and entranceways. Unlike wood or laminate, it won't swell or warp when exposed to water.

How do I clean and maintain Polyflor Camaro PUR flooring?

Maintenance is straightforward thanks to the PUR coating. Regular sweeping or vacuuming removes loose dirt. For cleaning, simply use a damp mop with clean water and a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or steam mops, as these can damage the PUR layer. No waxing or polishing is required.

Can Polyflor Camaro PUR be installed over underfloor heating?

Yes, Polyflor Camaro PUR is suitable for use with underfloor heating systems. It's essential to ensure the system is commissioned correctly and that the floor surface temperature does not exceed 27°C (80°F). Always follow Polyflor’s detailed installation guidelines regarding underfloor heating.

Does Polyflor Camaro PUR require professional installation?

As a gluedown LVT, professional installation is highly recommended for Polyflor Camaro PUR. Proper subfloor preparation (smooth, level, dry, and clean) is critical for a successful and long-lasting installation. Experienced fitters, like those at Grosvenor Flooring, have the expertise and tools to ensure the best possible finish and adherence, protecting your investment and warranty.
