The Karndean Range: An Overview

Karndean’s residential portfolio at Grosvenor Flooring is organised around six collections — the three flagship ranges (Knight Tile, Van Gogh and Art Select) in their original glue-down format, two rigid core click alternatives (Knight Tile Rigid Core and Van Gogh Rigid Core), and the Italian-inspired Palio Essenza. Karndean Knight Tile is the entry point to the Karndean range in traditional glue-down format. With a wide palette of wood and stone designs and the flat, fully bonded finish that only glue-down LVT can produce, Knight Tile has been a default whole-home specification for many years.

Karndean Knight Tile Rigid Core is the click-format alternative to Knight Tile. A waterproof SPC core, pre-attached acoustic underlay and click-lock installation make it ideal for renovation projects and fit-overs where minimal subfloor preparation is a priority.

Karndean Van Gogh is Karndean’s most widely specified wood-effect collection in its original glue-down format. Van Gogh is known for its rich, design-led plank and herringbone options — from pale limed oaks through to deep walnut and smoked finishes — and produces a completely flat, fully bonded finish ideal for premium residential projects.

Karndean Van Gogh Rigid Core takes the same Van Gogh plank and herringbone designs and delivers them in a rigid core click format, with a waterproof SPC core and pre-attached acoustic underlay. A strong choice for renovation-friendly projects where you want the Van Gogh look without the demands of a glue-down installation.

Karndean Art Select is Karndean’s premium residential collection. Thicker wear layer, larger plank and parquet formats and more sophisticated surface detailing put this range at the top of the portfolio. Art Select is the default choice for statement floors, parquet and herringbone layouts and projects where the finish needs to justify a significant investment.

Karndean Palio Essenza is Karndean’s glue-down collection with an Italian-inspired design palette. Named after Italian towns and landscapes, Palio Essenza offers entry-level wear layer specification in a traditional fully bonded format — a strong choice for customers who want a genuine Karndean glue-down floor with a Mediterranean design direction at an accessible price point.

Karndean Flooring and Underfloor Heating

All Karndean residential LVT ranges — Knight Tile, Knight Tile Rigid Core, Van Gogh, Van Gogh Rigid Core, Art Select and Palio Essenza — are compatible with both wet and electric underfloor heating systems, subject to a maximum surface temperature of 27°C. Rigid core click products add the benefit of a pre-attached acoustic underlay, which is designed to work with underfloor heating while still providing impact sound reduction. Always follow Karndean’s specific installation guidance for underfloor heating to ensure the warranty remains valid.

Karndean for Kitchens, Bathrooms and Wet Areas

Karndean LVT is fully water resistant and, when installed correctly, is well suited to kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and cloakrooms. Glue-down ranges such as Art Select can be sealed around the perimeter to protect against water ingress, while rigid core click products offer inherent waterproof construction. Karndean is a practical choice where a natural wood floor would not be suitable — giving you the visual warmth of timber with the resilience of LVT.
