Frequently Asked Questions

What shades of light LVT are there?

Light LVT covers three main sub-tones. Light oak is the warmest, a fresh European oak with visible grain and honey undertones, close to a real solid oak floor. Blonde ash is cooler and finer-grained, for Scandinavian and coastal schemes. Honey pine is the warmest of all with almost-orange undertones and prominent knots, for rustic country and barn-conversion looks.

Does light LVT come in oak?

Yes, light oak is the most popular light look. It gives a fresh European oak appearance with soft honey undertones and is the strength of the ranges we stock with the deepest light oak library in Karndean Art Select and more accessible options in Karndean Van Gogh, Knight Tile and GF LVT.

Is light-coloured LVT difficult to keep clean?

No, light LVT is one of the easiest colour families to live with. Fine scratches and minor scuffs barely show on a pale grain and dust and footmarks are far less visible than on a dark or black floor. A regular sweep or vacuum and an occasional damp mop keep it looking fresh.

Will light-coloured LVT stain easily?

No. Like all LVT the wear layer is a sealed PVC film that does not absorb liquids, so spills wipe away and do not soak in. A pale floor shows dust sooner than a mid-tone, but it resists staining just as well and a thicker wear layer adds extra everyday protection in busy rooms.

Will light LVT make my room look too plain?

Only if the whole scheme is pale on pale. Light floors are a deliberately quiet backdrop that lets cabinets, joinery and furniture stand out, so add interest with wall colour, a herringbone or chevron lay pattern, or a grained light oak rather than a flat blonde. Paired with sage, blue or charcoal cabinets, a light floor looks considered rather than plain.

What wear layer should a light floor have?

Because a pale grain hides scratches so well, a 0.3mm wear layer is fine for most rooms and still gives a long domestic life. Step up to 0.55mm for a busy kitchen or hallway and to 0.7mm only if the room takes commercial-level traffic.
