Frequently Asked Questions

What is GF by Grosvenor Flooring engineered wood?

GF is our own-label engineered oak collection. We design the range in-house, source it direct from established European mills and sell it under our own label rather than through a national brand, which lets us offer premium oak at a lower price. It comes in three formats: Herringbone, Planks and Versailles Pattern.

Is GF engineered wood as good as brand-name ranges like Ted Todd, Kahrs or V4?

On the floors we put under the GF label, yes. The oak grade, wear layer and finish are directly comparable to floors that cost significantly more from the big brands. Most of the difference in price is the brand premium that comes with selling through a national retailer network. Our blog has side-by-side comparisons for Ted Todd, Woodpecker, Kahrs and Parador.

What formats does GF engineered wood come in?

Three. GF Herringbone is a small-format parquet pattern for kitchens, hallways and open-plan rooms. GF Planks are wide, long boards for whole-house and open-plan projects. GF Versailles Pattern is a large-format decorative parquet panel for period properties and statement rooms.

Why are GF floors named after villages?

Every colour is named after a Cheshire or South Manchester village near us, such as Alderley, Tatton, Bowdon and Tarporley. We have been fitting floors in these places for two decades, so the names reflect where the range comes from rather than a generic product code.

Can I get free samples of GF engineered wood?

Yes. You can order up to five free samples on any order, posted to you free of charge, so you can compare oak tones and finishes properly in your own light before you buy the full floor.

Is GF engineered wood suitable for underfloor heating?

Yes. Every GF floor works with both wet and electric underfloor heating up to a maximum surface temperature of 27C. Acclimatise the boards for at least 48 hours before fitting and follow the supplied instructions to keep the floor stable and the warranty intact.

How much does GF engineered wood cost?

GF sits in the premium engineered oak bracket but below comparable brand-name ranges, because you are not paying a national brand premium. Full pricing is shown on every product page and there is no need to request a quote. Our engineered wood flooring prices guide explains what drives the cost.

Do you fit GF engineered wood?

Yes. We offer supply and fit across Altrincham, Manchester and Cheshire through a regular team of fitters we know and trust. Nationwide, every GF floor can be bought online with free UK delivery and we are happy to advise on what to look for in a local installer.
