Step up from the entry 0.3mm. A 0.55mm wear layer (Karndean Van Gogh or Amtico Spacia) suits a typical family hallway; 0.7mm (Karndean Art Select, Amtico Form or Invictus Ultimus) is better for a busy household with children, dogs or holiday-let turnover; and 1.0mm Amtico Signature is right for commercial-level halls.

LVT is the more practical hallway floor. Real and engineered wood scratch and mark from grit and wet shoes and can swell at the door; laminate chips at the edges and is vulnerable to water. LVT is waterproof, more scratch and dent resistant, warmer underfoot and repairable a plank at a time, while looking just as much like real wood.
