Yes, for utility use LVT is effectively waterproof. The vinyl plank has no wood content so it does not absorb water and a glue-down floor bonded to the subfloor and sealed at the perimeter keeps mop water, appliance leaks and wet boots out of the floor edge. It is the format we specify for wet rooms over any floating click floor.

Step up from the standard 0.3mm. A 0.55mm wear layer (Karndean Van Gogh or Amtico Spacia) is the sweet spot for a typical family utility and 0.7mm (Karndean Art Select, Amtico Form or Invictus Ultimus) is better if it doubles as a boot room, dog-washing zone or the family route to the garden. The room is small, so the extra cost is tiny.

Yes. A glue-down LVT floor is bonded continuously to the subfloor, so it handles the point loads of a fully loaded washer-dryer without indenting far better than a floating floor. A flat subfloor is essential, because a washing machine on a hump will walk on a fast spin and felt pads or an anti-vibration mat under the appliance help further.

LVT is warmer and quieter underfoot than ceramic, will not crack if you drop a pan or a tin, needs no grout to clean and is more forgiving on a flexing timber subfloor.
