Frequently Asked Questions

What is wood-effect herringbone LVT?

It is a luxury vinyl floor laid in the classic parquet pattern, where short planks interlock at 90 degrees so each plank ends halfway along the next. The planks are printed with a realistic timber design and textured surface and are fitted either glue-down plank-by-plank or as click-lock rigid-core boards with the herringbone engineered into the joint. The look is close to real oak parquet, but waterproof, scratch-resistant and UFH-compatible.

Which herringbone ranges and wear layers do you stock?

The main glue-down herringbone ranges are Amtico Form and Karndean Art Select (both 0.7mm), Karndean Van Gogh (0.55mm), Amtico Signature (1.0mm bespoke) and Project Floors, plus Nordikka Tromso (0.55mm glue-down). Nordikka Bodo is a click-lock rigid-core herringbone for retrofits. Nordikka is buy-online; the others are Request a Price.

Does herringbone LVT come in oak?

Yes, oak is the most popular herringbone look. The ranges we stock cover the full oak spectrum from pale limed and washed oaks through to warm honey oaks and darker smoked and distressed oaks, so you can match a period parquet look or a contemporary Scandinavian one.

Is Wood Effect Herringbone LVT difficult to install myself?

Herringbone is not a DIY pattern. The 90-degree plank orientation compounds any error in the setting-out of the first run, so the starting line must be laid perfectly square or the pattern drifts visibly as it extends. We strongly recommend professional installation on any herringbone project and our teams handle setting-out, levelling and fitting across Cheshire and South Manchester.

How does it compare to real wood herringbone flooring?

It gives the same visual movement and warmth as timber parquet, but is waterproof, more scratch and dent resistant, warmer and quieter underfoot, UFH-compatible and much lower maintenance with no sanding or sealing. It also costs less than solid or engineered wood parquet and is far more forgiving in a kitchen or hallway.

Can Wood Effect Herringbone LVT be used in a kitchen or bathroom?

Yes. Glue-down herringbone is a strong choice for a kitchen and, sealed at the perimeter, for a bathroom, because the plank does not absorb water and the bonded floor keeps moisture out. For wet rooms we specify glue-down rather than click and seal around every wet point.
