Why Buy Amtico from an Approved Amtico Retailer?

If you have been researching Amtico flooring, you will have seen the phrase “Amtico Approved Retailer” repeated across showroom websites and product pages. It is not just a marketing badge. Amtico’s manufacturer warranties are directly tied to buying from and being installed by an approved retailer — and understanding what that means before you commit can save you significant problems down the line.

Grosvenor Flooring is an Amtico Approved Retail Partner. We stock the full Amtico range, supply nationwide and offer supply and fit for customers in Altrincham, Manchester and Cheshire. This guide explains what the approval actually means, why it matters, what it protects and what you should check before placing an order with any Amtico retailer.

What Does “Amtico Approved Retailer” Mean?

An Amtico Approved Retailer is a flooring business that has been formally authorised by Amtico to supply and install their products. The approval is not automatic — it requires the retailer to meet Amtico’s standards for product knowledge, installation competence and customer service. In practice, this means the retailer’s fitting teams have been trained on Amtico-specific installation methods, adhesives and subfloor preparation requirements.

The approval covers both supply (selling the product) and installation (fitting it correctly). Some retailers are approved for supply only, others for supply and fit. At Grosvenor Flooring, we hold full approval for both — meaning we can supply Amtico to customers nationwide and fit it professionally for customers in the North West.

Why the Warranty Depends on It

This is the part that catches people out. Amtico’s manufacturer warranties — which range from 15 years on Amtico First to a lifetime guarantee on Amtico Signature — are conditional on professional installation by an approved retailer using approved methods. If you buy Amtico from a non-approved source or have it fitted by someone outside the approved network, the warranty may be void from day one.

This is not a grey area or a technicality that rarely gets enforced. Amtico is explicit about it: the warranty is validated through the installation record held by the approved retailer. If a defect or wear issue arises and there is no approved installation on file, the claim is likely to be rejected.

The warranty structure across the Amtico range:

RangeWear LayerWarranty
Amtico First0.3mm15-year residential
Amtico Spacia0.55mm20-year residential
Amtico Form0.7mm30-year residential
Amtico Signature1.0mmLifetime residential
Amtico Click Smart0.55mm20-year residential
Amtico AccessCommercial gradeCommercial warranty

At the Signature level, you are investing in a floor with a lifetime warranty. Losing that warranty by buying from the wrong retailer is an expensive mistake.

Why Pattern Floors Need an Approved Fitter

This matters particularly with pattern floors. The 45+ Designers’ Choice patterns in the Signature range — Versailles Parquet, Castel Weave, Halcyon Pleat, Grand Flagstone and the rest — all ship as pre-cut module sets with specific set-out requirements. An Amtico Approved Fitter has trained on the full pattern library and knows how each module interacts with room squaring, underfloor heating thresholds and edge detailing. Getting the set-out wrong on a Designers’ Choice floor is expensive to fix and cannot be rectified without lifting the finished surface. See our Amtico laying patterns guide for the full pattern reference.

What Should You Check Before Buying?

Before committing to any Amtico retailer, these are the questions worth asking:

  • Are you an Amtico Approved Retail Partner? Not all flooring shops that stock Amtico are formally approved. Some are resellers or secondary stockists who do not hold approved status. If in doubt, ask to see the approval or check with Amtico directly.
  • Will you be fitting the floor, or am I arranging my own fitter? If you arrange your own installation, confirm whether the warranty will still be valid. In most cases, the fitter needs to be working under an approved retailer’s supervision for the warranty to hold.
  • Which adhesives and preparation methods will you use? Amtico specifies particular adhesives and subfloor preparation standards. An approved retailer will use these as standard — a non-approved fitter may not.
  • Do you stock the full range? Some smaller retailers only carry selected Amtico collections. If you want to compare First, Spacia, Form and Signature side by side, check that the retailer has them all available to view.
