Where to Buy Karndean Flooring on the Wirral

You will not be passed between a salesperson, a surveyor and an installer. Blake Williams, our Operations Director, handles your enquiry himself. He travels over from his home in Tarvin to see the house, measure up and price everything in writing. One of the regular fitters we work with is Wirral-based, which helps when it comes to arranging dates.

Karndean at a Glance

Karndean splits neatly into three price tiers, each with a glue-down and, in two cases, a click version.

At the top is Art Select. Its thick 0.7mm wear layer makes it the toughest Karndean you can buy and the design choice runs to herringbone and parquet formats.

In the middle sits Van Gogh, a wood-only collection with a 0.55mm wear layer and a pronounced grain you can feel underfoot. If you prefer a floating floor, Van Gogh Rigid Core gives you the same looks as a click plank.

The entry tier is Knight Tile, Karndean’s most popular range. It has a 0.3mm wear layer and plenty of wood and stone options. Knight Tile Rigid Core is its click sibling. Alongside them, Palio Essenza adds glue-down Italian-style woods and stones at a similar price.

Getting the Base Right

Karndean only looks as good as the floor beneath it. In older Wirral properties that is often timber boards, which need fixing down and covering with ply before a glue-down floor goes on. Concrete floors may need a smoothing compound to remove dips and ridges.

Blake assesses all of this when he visits, so the price you agree is the price you pay. The fitting is carried out by a regular team of fitters we know and trust. The Karndean floor fitter page explains our process in detail.

Seeing Karndean in the Showroom

If you want to see a whole floor before deciding, every Karndean range we supply is laid out at our Altrincham showroom, 82 Stamford New Road. From most of the Wirral it is around an hour via the M53 and M56. The showroom is a 24/7 Smart Showroom, so request a door code and visit whenever you are free.

Amtico, Invictus and our GF range are in the same building, so one trip lets you compare four brands. Plenty of Wirral customers skip the showroom entirely and choose after Blake’s visit.

What Shapes the Price

The Karndean range you choose sets a starting point. From there the house decides. Preparation is the biggest variable on the peninsula’s older properties. Click formats can cost less to fit than glue-down. Herringbone takes longer than straight planks. Thresholds, design strips and removal of your existing floor all add to the job.
