Where to Buy Amtico Flooring on the Wirral
Reviewed by Blake Williams, Operations Director
If you live on the Wirral and want Amtico supplied and fitted, Grosvenor Flooring can help. As an Amtico Retail Partner we sell every current collection and take care of the whole job, from Caldy and West Kirby across to Heswall, Thornton Hough and Oxton.

The process starts in your home rather than ours. Blake Williams, our Operations Director, drives over from Tarvin to measure up, check the subfloor and price the work in writing. One of the regular fitters we use also lives on the peninsula, so Wirral homes are familiar ground for the team.
Why Amtico Works Well in Wirral Homes
Life near the coast is hard on floors. Sand comes in on shoes, dogs come back wet from Thurstaston beach and big glazed extensions let in a lot of light. Glue-down Amtico copes with all of it. It is water-resistant, wipes clean in seconds and does not mind a wet paw print by the back door.
It also suits the peninsula’s housing. Signature wood designs in herringbone look right in an Oxton villa or an Edwardian house in Hoylake. Large stone-effect tiles work in the open-plan kitchens of newer homes around Heswall and Irby. The small cottages of Port Sunlight often suit a narrower plank that does not overwhelm the rooms.
The Amtico Collections We Sell
We stock all six. Most Wirral customers end up choosing between three of them:
Signature is the flagship. It has the largest set of designs and every pattern from parquet to chevron. Spacia costs less and still gives a convincing wood or stone look across a big area. Form brings a more contemporary palette and a hard-wearing surface.
The other three serve particular jobs. First is the budget route into Amtico, popular for holiday lets and rentals. Click Smart clicks together without adhesive. Access is designed to be loose-laid.
Fitting Amtico on the Wirral
Many of the peninsula’s older houses have suspended timber ground floors. Amtico cannot go straight onto boards, because the gaps and movement would telegraph through, so the boards are fixed down and overlaid with ply first. Solid floors in newer homes usually need a levelling compound instead. Either way, Blake spots it on his visit and the cost sits in your quote from day one.
The laying itself is done by a regular team of fitters we know and trust. Patterns such as herringbone, borders and feature strips are routine for them. More detail on our methods is on the Amtico floor fitter page.
How the Home Visit Works
Blake will ask how each room is used: who comes in through the back door, whether there is underfloor heating and where the sun falls in the afternoon. That shapes which collection he suggests. He measures every room, notes thresholds and skirting and then sends a written, itemised price. There is no minimum size, so a single hallway is as welcome as a whole ground floor. Contact us with your postcode to arrange a time.
Trying Amtico in the Showroom
Our Altrincham showroom at 82 Stamford New Road is about an hour from most of the Wirral by the M53 and M56. Because it is a 24/7 Smart Showroom, you are not tied to weekday opening hours. Request a door code and visit on a Saturday evening if that suits you better.
Every Amtico collection is laid out in large panels. Karndean, Invictus and our GF range are alongside, which saves a lot of driving between shops. Many customers find one trip is enough once Blake has already been to the house.
Pricing Amtico for a Wirral Home
Amtico prices vary between collections, but what really moves the total is the house. A suspended floor that needs overlaying costs more to prepare than a sound concrete slab. Patterned layouts take longer to set out than straight planks. Borders, strips, new thresholds and taking up an old floor all play a part too.
Blake’s quote lists each item separately, so you can see exactly what you are paying for and compare it fairly with other quotes. If you have a budget in mind, say so on the visit and he will suggest ways to reach it, such as Spacia in place of Signature in the larger rooms. Our Amtico flooring prices guide goes into the cost factors in more depth.
Amtico, Karndean or GF?
We sell all three, so there is no reason to push you towards one. Amtico offers the broadest design choice. Karndean is very good value and has some lovely realistic oaks. Our own GF range gives a premium specification at a sharper price. The Amtico vs Karndean guide lays out the differences. The Amtico alternative guide matches each Amtico collection to the closest GF floor. GF samples are free. Who sells Amtico on the Wirral?
Grosvenor Flooring sells and fits Amtico across the peninsula as an Amtico Retail Partner. Blake Williams surveys every home himself and every collection is on display in our Altrincham showroom.
Do you cover Heswall, Caldy and West Kirby?
Yes. Those are some of the areas we visit most, along with Hoylake, Thornton Hough, Oxton and Neston.
Is Amtico a good choice for a home near the beach?
Very good. Glue-down Amtico is water-resistant and easy to sweep and mop, so sand and wet dogs are not a problem. A good doormat by the entrance still helps protect the surface.
Can Amtico go over the floorboards in an older Wirral house?
Yes, after preparation. The boards are secured and overlaid with ply to give a flat base. Blake checks this on his visit and includes it in the price.
Can I have Amtico in a garden room or conservatory?
Often, yes. Rooms with a lot of glass get hot, so Blake will look at the space and advise on the right product and adhesive. Blinds help protect any floor from strong sun.
Do you have an Amtico fitter on the Wirral?
Yes. We fit across the CH41 to CH49 and CH60 to CH64 postcodes. One of the regular fitters we work with lives on the Wirral.
Is Grosvenor Flooring an Amtico Retail Partner?
Yes. We supply every current Amtico collection and they are all on show in Altrincham.
Are Amtico samples free?
No. You can see the whole Amtico range in our showroom instead. Our own GF floors do come with free samples if you want something to compare at home.
