Where to Buy Amtico Flooring in Chester
Reviewed by Blake Williams, Operations Director
Grosvenor Flooring is an Amtico Retail Partner and we supply and fit Amtico in homes across Chester. Your first step is a free home visit from Blake Williams, our Operations Director. Blake grew up on Lache Lane, went to school in Handbridge and lives in Tarvin today, so he knows the city’s houses from the inside.
In this article

He measures each room, looks at what is under your current floor and writes you a fixed quote for the whole job. Every Amtico collection is also laid out in our 24/7 Smart Showroom in Altrincham for anyone who wants to walk on it first.
In short: one company sells you the floor, prepares the subfloor and lays it. Blake is your contact from the first measure to the final threshold strip.
Why buy through a Retail Partner at all? Because you see genuine Amtico at full size, the range is chosen for how each room is used and nobody can blame somebody else if a seam lifts. We hold the same status with Karndean, so if you are torn between the two you will hear the honest pros and cons of each.
Looking for an Amtico Fitter in Chester?
Chester’s older houses are where Amtico fitting gets interesting. A Hoole terrace might have quarry tiles under the hall carpet. A Handbridge semi might have pine boards that have moved for a hundred years. A city-centre flat will usually need an acoustic underlay to keep the neighbours below happy. Amtico is only a few millimetres thick, so every dip and joint shows through unless the base is put right first.
That is why Blake prices the preparation on the day he visits. If boards need overlaying with ply or a concrete floor needs a smoothing compound, it is written into the quote at the start rather than discovered once the furniture is out. The floor is then laid by a regular team of fitters we know and trust, who handle herringbone, parquet, borders and feature stripping every week.
Our Amtico floor fitter page goes through the fitting process step by step.
Your Free Home Visit with Blake
Most Chester customers never need to make the drive to our showroom before choosing. Blake looks at your rooms in their own light, alongside your kitchen units, skirting and furniture. He then talks you through the Amtico designs that would suit them.
Blake trained and qualified as an accountant at Baker Tilly before joining the family business. It shows in his quotes: every line is itemised, from adhesive to door bars. Single rooms are as welcome as whole ground floors. Get in touch with your postcode and the rooms you have in mind and we will book a time that suits you.
Which Amtico Range Suits a Chester Home?
Amtico makes six current collections and we supply all of them. Here is how they tend to fit the city’s housing:
Period rooms near the city walls usually suit wood designs laid in a pattern. Newer homes on the edge of the city often go for wide planks running straight through an open-plan space.
Can I See Amtico Before I Buy?
Yes. Our Altrincham showroom at 82 Stamford New Road is roughly 45 minutes from Chester on the M56 and has parking outside. It works as a 24/7 Smart Showroom: ask for a door code online and come in on a weekday evening or a Sunday morning without booking.
The Amtico displays are full size, so you can stand on a herringbone panel rather than squint at a swatch. Karndean, Invictus and our own GF floors are in the same room. Bring photos of your rooms and take as long as you need.
Plenty of Chester customers reverse the order: Blake’s visit first, then one trip to the showroom to settle the final design.
What Does Amtico Cost in Chester?
There is no single price per square metre for a fitted Amtico floor. The collection you pick matters, but so does the room. An L-shaped kitchen with a bay window takes more cutting than a square lounge. A herringbone hall takes far longer to set out than straight planks. Borders, stripping, new door bars and lifting an old floor all add time.
Chester’s older homes often need more preparation than a new build, so that line can make a real difference. Blake’s written quote shows it separately, along with the Amtico, adhesive, fitting and disposal of your old flooring. You can lay it next to anyone else’s quote and compare like with like.
Working to a figure? Tell Blake at the start. Spacia instead of Signature, or straight planks in the hall and herringbone only in the lounge, can bring a project into budget without it looking like a compromise. Our Amtico flooring prices guide explains the cost factors in more depth.
Amtico or Karndean?
We are a Retail Partner for both brands, which is why customers ask us this so often. Amtico tends to win for people who want the widest choice of designs and the full set of laying patterns. Karndean is strong on value and has some very believable wood designs. Both need the same careful preparation underneath, so the decision usually comes down to the look you love and your budget. Where We Fit Amtico Around Chester
Inside the city we regularly fit Amtico in Hoole, Handbridge, Curzon Park, Queens Park, Upton, Boughton and Vicars Cross. Outside it, Christleton, Huntington, Waverton, Mickle Trafford, Tarvin and Tattenhall are all within easy reach of Blake’s home.
Further out we cover Tarporley, Frodsham and Northwich, plus the Wirral, which has its own guide to buying Amtico on the Wirral. Our flooring in Chester page covers every type of floor we fit in the city and our flooring in Cheshire page covers the rest of the county.
Want to Compare Amtico With GF?
Our own GF range was developed after years of selling the big brands. The Amtico alternative guide pairs each Amtico collection with its nearest GF equivalent. GF samples are free, so you can hold one against an Amtico display and decide for yourself.

Where can I buy Amtico in Chester?
From Grosvenor Flooring, an Amtico Retail Partner. Blake Williams visits your Chester home to measure and quote and every collection is on show at our Altrincham showroom.
Can Amtico be laid over old floorboards in a Chester terrace?
Yes, once the boards are made solid and flat. That normally means fixing any loose boards and overlaying them with ply. Blake checks the boards on his visit and includes the work in your quote.
Is there an Amtico fitter in Chester?
Yes. We fit Amtico across the CH1 to CH4 postcodes, including herringbone, parquet, borders and stripping. The fitting is done by a regular team of fitters we know and trust after Blake has surveyed the job.
Can I have Amtico in a Chester flat?
Usually, yes. Many flats in the city have lease rules about sound, so an acoustic underlay may be needed under the Amtico. Check your lease and Blake will specify a floor that meets it.
Do I need to visit the showroom before ordering?
No. Plenty of customers choose after Blake’s home visit alone. The showroom is there if you want to see a whole floor laid out before you decide.
How is an Amtico quote worked out?
From the collection, the floor area, the room shapes, the preparation needed and the laying pattern. Blake itemises each of these in writing after his free visit.
Why buy from an Amtico Retail Partner?
A Retail Partner can show you the full range, advise on the right collection for each room and take responsibility for the finished floor. Grosvenor Flooring is an Amtico Retail Partner for Chester and Cheshire.
Can I get free Amtico samples?
Not free ones. The full Amtico range is on display in Altrincham whenever you want to visit. Free samples are available on our own GF floors if you would like to compare.
