Flooring in Northwich – Amtico, Karndean, Invictus & Engineered Wood

4.8 / 5 · from 145+ Google reviews

Northwich grew on salt. Its timber-framed shopfronts were built so they could be jacked up as the ground sank. Just outside town, the Anderton Boat Lift still raises boats from the River Weaver. Today the town spreads across CW8 and CW9, from Winnington and Rudheath to Barnton and Weaverham. Grosvenor Flooring supplies and fits floors right across it.

Amtico and Karndean are both available, as we sell each brand as a Retail Partner. Other options are Invictus, Project Floors, our own GF range or engineered wood. Surveys are carried out by Blake Williams, our Operations Director.

Mid Cheshire, Measured Properly

Older Northwich streets can surprise you underfoot. Decades of settlement mean some floors are no longer level, so Blake brings a straight edge as well as a tape measure. He notes dips, loose boards and any damp, then builds the right levelling into the price. His Baker Tilly accountancy training keeps that price easy to follow.

On the day itself, our regular Cheshire fitters take over. We know and trust every one of them. The supply and fit service page explains what to expect.

Flooring for Northwich Homes

Terraces near the town centre and Castle: Victorian and Edwardian houses where hallways take a pounding and a herringbone LVT looks right.
Winnington and Kingsmead: newer homes with open layouts and underfloor heating ready for LVT or engineered oak.
Barnton, Weaverham and Cuddington: village semis and extended family homes where kitchens and boot rooms need something tough.
Davenham and Leftwich: inter-war and post-war houses being modernised room by room.

Amtico in Northwich

We carry the full Amtico family: Signature, Spacia, Form, First, Click Smart and Access. Spacia’s woods and stones are good all-rounders for a family home being updated in stages. Signature adds laying patterns and feature stripping when you want something more decorative.

How we lay it is covered on the Amtico floor fitter page. Our article on buying Amtico in Altrincham explains the displays.

Karndean in Northwich

Karndean ranges available: Art Select, Van Gogh, Van Gogh Rigid Core, Knight Tile, Knight Tile Rigid Core and Palio Essenza. Knight Tile in a herringbone layout suits a Victorian terrace hall at a sensible cost.

Our Amtico vs Karndean comparison sets the two side by side. Fitting is explained on the Karndean floor fitter page and the displays in buying Karndean in Altrincham.

Invictus, Project Floors & GF

Invictus gives you Belgian quality in four ranges for less money than Amtico or Karndean. Details are on the Invictus floor fitter page. Project Floors works well in rentals and busy family homes.

GF, our own range, offers big-brand looks at a smaller price. Textures and Elements widen the choice of wood-effect planks and herringbone. Try free samples of GF, Textures and Elements in your own light. Visit our LVT floor fitter page for more.

Engineered Wood in Northwich

Engineered boards are more stable than solid wood, which matters on floors that have moved over the years. Our own GF engineered wood comes in plank, herringbone, chevron and Versailles. Compare finishes side by side in the Wood Room.

Two articles compare GF with names you may have been quoted: Ted Todd alternatives and Woodpecker alternatives. Fitting is on the engineered wood floor fitter page.

Can I See the Floors Before I Buy?

Yes. Take the A556 and you will reach our Altrincham showroom at 82 Stamford New Road in about 30 minutes. It is a 24/7 Smart Showroom that opens with a door code, so Saturday evenings work as well as weekdays.

Flooring in Northwich – Frequently Asked Questions

My floor is uneven. Can you still fit LVT?

Usually, yes. Blake measures how far out it is and prices levelling compound or ply as needed.

Why choose engineered wood over solid?

Its layered core moves less with changes in temperature and humidity, so it stays flatter.

What works in a Victorian terrace hall?

Herringbone, either in Karndean Knight Tile or engineered oak.

Do you cover Weaverham and Barnton?

We do. Our coverage takes in all of CW8 and CW9.

How long is the drive to Altrincham?

About 30 minutes on the A556. The showroom opens with a code at any time.

Is LVT a good choice for a rental?

It is a popular one. Project Floors and GF resist wear from one tenancy to the next.

Can I order samples before the visit?

Yes. We post free GF, Textures and Elements samples so you can decide before Blake arrives.

Who does the survey?

Blake Williams, our Operations Director.
