What Each Brand Offers
GF engineered wood. Our own range of 76 oak designs: 35 plank, 35 herringbone and 6 Versailles, in boards from 10mm to 20mm. You can see them at full scale in our Wood Room and buy them online.

Warrington Homes and Wood Floors
The Victorian and Edwardian houses around Stockton Heath and Grappenhall often have suspended timber floors and high ceilings that suit herringbone or wide planks. Boards there are usually secret-nailed or floated once the old floorboards are made sound.
Newer estates at Chapelford and Great Sankey tend to have concrete floors, often with underfloor heating in the kitchen or extension. Those floors are usually glued after a moisture test. Thickness, Top Layer and Finish
A thicker top layer of real oak gives you more chances to sand the floor back in future. For a hallway or kitchen that will take years of traffic, a 4mm to 6mm top layer, as on GF’s 15mm and 20mm boards, gives the most life. In a bedroom, 3mm is plenty.

Our Wood Room is inside the Altrincham showroom at 82 Stamford New Road, WA14 1BS. GF boards are laid out full size and Kahrs and Parador are on display in the showroom. The door code arrives straight away when you request it online, so you can drive over from Warrington on an evening or at the weekend. Some buyers visit Ted Todd’s Design Centre and our Wood Room on the same day.
