Engineered Wood Flooring Manchester: A 2026 Local Guide

The Brands We Supply
We sell six engineered wood brands. Some are in our showroom and some we supply to order:

Engineered Wood in a Manchester Apartment
Most city-centre leases set rules on noise between floors. That usually means a floated engineered floor over an approved acoustic underlay rather than boards glued straight to the slab. Check your lease or ask the managing agent before you choose, then pass the requirement on to us. Blake will specify an underlay that meets it.
Many apartments also have underfloor heating. Most engineered boards are fine over it as long as the surface stays within the maker’s temperature limit. Our underfloor heating guide lists the checks.
Terraces and Semis in the Suburbs
Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Didsbury, Chorlton and Withington usually have suspended timber ground floors. These suit a secret-nailed or floated board once any loose floorboards are fixed down. The 1930s semis in Sale, Stretford and Urmston more often sit on concrete, which is glued after a moisture test and any levelling.

Choosing a Board
Two numbers matter most. Total thickness affects stability and the top layer of real oak decides how many times the floor can be sanded. GF boards run from 10mm with a 3mm top layer up to 20mm with a 6mm top layer, which gives you a floor that can be sanded back several times.
The finish is the other big choice. Brushed and matt lacquers hide everyday marks well, while an oiled floor can be touched up in one spot. Our guides to engineered wood for kitchens and family homes help narrow it down.
Seeing the Boards
The Wood Room at our Altrincham showroom has our GF boards laid out full size. Kahrs and Parador are on display in the showroom too. It is open 24/7 and the door code arrives straight away when you request it online. From the city centre it is a straightforward trip by tram or car.
Supply and Fit Across Manchester
For a fitted floor, Blake Williams, our Operations Director, visits first. He takes moisture readings, measures up, settles the fitting method and writes a quote that lists every item. A regular team of fitters we know and trust lays the floor, whether it is one apartment room or a whole house. Do you fit herringbone and Versailles?
Yes. Both take more setting out than straight planks, so they take longer to lay, but our fitters do them regularly.
