Ingresso is Kahrs’ value 3-layer parquet collection. It sits above the Kahrs Life veneer range (Life Authentic Plank and Life Authentic Herringbone) but below the design-led and flagship 3-layer collections such as Smaland, Da Capo and Piazza. That makes it the most affordable 3-layer parquet Kahrs sells in the UK.

The engineering approach on Ingresso is deliberate. Kahrs uses a Pine/Spruce core rather than the birch plywood or premium softwood specifications on higher-tier collections, applies a 2.5mm oak wear layer (thinner than the 3.5mm on Piazza but still substantial) and specifies a Fold Down joint rather than Kahrs’ more common Woodloc system. Every one of those choices reduces the material cost while keeping the fundamentals of 3-layer parquet construction intact. The result is a floor that is genuinely 3-layer parquet at genuinely accessible pricing for the Kahrs brand.

Kahrs Ingresso Construction and Specification

Ingresso construction is consistent across all 7 products in the collection. Colour and specific surface finish vary. The specification table below applies to every product.

The 14mm total build is 1mm thinner than the 15mm dominant across Kahrs’ other 3-layer parquet collections (Smaland, Da Capo, European Naturals). The 2.5mm oak wear layer sits between the 3.5mm on Piazza’s 2-layer build and the 0.6mm on the Kahrs Life veneer collections. Two full sanding cycles are supported, potentially three, which delivers meaningful re-sanding potential across the ownership horizon.

The Pine/Spruce core is the visible cost saving on Ingresso versus higher-tier collections. Birch plywood (used on Piazza) is more dimensionally stable but more expensive. Premium softwood cores (used on Smaland’s 3-layer parquet) sit between. Pine/Spruce delivers acceptable dimensional performance for domestic residential installations while significantly reducing the material cost of the finished board. It’s a considered engineering trade-off rather than a corner-cut.

The Dynamic grading is worth understanding at spec time. Kahrs’ Dynamic grading rulebook allows more knots, sap variation and colour variation than the Calm grading on Piazza AB. Ingresso boards will show visible knot character, filled cracks and colour variation across the pack. That visual character is part of the collection’s aesthetic identity and pairs well with the Warm Light colour classification that runs across the range.

The Fold Down Joint System

Ingresso uses Kahrs’ Fold Down joint rather than the Woodloc 5S system on Kahrs’ higher-tier 3-layer parquet collections. Fold Down is a different mechanism and the differences matter at installation time.

Fold Down joins the long edge of each board to the previous course by folding the new board down into place from an angled position. This is Kahrs’ standard system on collections positioned at accessible pricing and is a proven, established joint mechanism. It supports both floating installation (no adhesive to the subfloor) and glue-down installation. Both options are warranty-valid.

Woodloc 5S (used on Smaland and other higher-tier collections) is Kahrs’ proprietary click-together system that delivers the same functional result with a specific alignment tolerance profile that some fitters prefer. In practical terms both joints deliver stable, warranty-valid installations. Fold Down is what you get with Ingresso; it works. The Kahrs Ingresso Product Line-Up

All 7 Ingresso products share the same core construction. Colour, surface finish variant and specific naming vary.

Oak Calce. On display at Grosvenor. A white-oiled finish over the rustic Dynamic-graded oak. Calce reads as a pale, warm oak floor with knots and sapwood visible through the white oil.

Oak Grano Matt. A matt finish on the same Dynamic-graded oak. It reads as a natural mid-tone oak with the classic Ingresso rustic character. Grano Matt is not on display, but Grano Oiled shows the same base board.

Oak Grano Oiled. On display at Grosvenor. A natural oil finish on the Dynamic-graded oak, warmer than the Matt version. It reads as a rich mid-brown oak with visible warmth.

Oak Barrique. Named after the French oak barrels used for ageing wine. A warm mid-tone Ingresso with a slightly deeper colour than Grano.

Oak Oro. A golden-brown Ingresso, named after the Italian word for gold. Warmer in tone than Grano or Barrique.

Oak Paglia. Named after the Italian word for straw. One of the lighter, softer colours in the collection.

Oak Terrano. On display at Grosvenor. An earthy, deeper-toned Ingresso that suits rustic and traditional rooms.

The Ingresso Boards on Display

The three Ingresso boards in the Wood Room cover the colour range most buyers choose from. Calce is the pale, white-oiled option, Grano Oiled is a warm natural tone and Terrano is the deeper, earthier choice. Seeing all three in daylight narrows the decision quickly.

Barrique, Grano Matt, Oro and Paglia are not on display, so we can talk you through them from Kahrs’ specifications and photographs. Kahrs samples are for viewing in the showroom and are not posted out.

Ingresso Installation and Underfloor Heating

Ingresso’s Fold Down joint supports both floating and glue-down installation:

Floating installation. The Fold Down joint locks the boards to each other without adhesive to the subfloor. Standard specification for retrofit projects, over existing wood subfloors and where future subfloor access may matter. Floating over UFH requires an appropriate underlay that supports thermal transmission while providing acoustic and cushion properties.

Glue-down installation. Every Ingresso board can be fully glued to a suitably prepared subfloor. Glue-down tends to specify on very large floor areas, on light-commercial installations and in specific UFH commissioning specifications where full contact with the heat source is preferred.

Ingresso Warranty and Long-Term Ownership

Ingresso carries a 20-year residential warranty when supplied through Kahrs’ approved retailer channel and fitted to Kahrs’ installation guidelines. That’s shorter than the 30-year warranty on Piazza, Large Herringbone and Smaland but longer than most collections in Kahrs’ accessible-premium tier.

The 20-year warranty reflects Ingresso’s place as Kahrs’ accessible 3-layer range rather than a flagship. The pine and spruce core, the 2.5mm oak wear layer and the Fold Down joint all sit at that level. For most homes, 20 years of warranty cover is more than enough.

Ingresso specifies well on projects with three characteristics:

Value-premium residential renovation. Ingresso is the collection to specify when the project brief calls for real 3-layer parquet oak but the budget can’t stretch to Smaland or Piazza. The 14mm build, 2.5mm wear layer and Fold Down joint deliver a floor that reads as and performs as, premium engineered oak at an accessible-tier price point.

Rustic-aesthetic domestic interiors. The Dynamic grading and Warm Light colour classification pair naturally with rustic-modern and traditional-domestic interior schemes. Ingresso will not look out of place in a farmhouse kitchen, an Edwardian terrace refurbishment or a mid-century modern living space.

Is Ingresso worth stepping up from Life Authentic Plank?

It depends on the project. Life Authentic Plank gives you real oak on a veneer construction. Ingresso gives you 3-layer parquet, a 20-year warranty and an oak wear layer you can sand. The price difference is real but modest. For a floor you plan to keep for many years, Ingresso’s sandable wear layer and warranty usually justify the step up. For a renovation on a tight budget where sanding is not a factor, Life Authentic Plank is still a good choice.

Can Ingresso be sanded back?

Yes. The 2.5mm oak wear layer supports two full sanding cycles, possibly three.
