Amtico Form Guide

Amtico Form Guide – Grosvenor Flooring

Amtico Form: The Complete UK Buyer’s Guide

Form is the range to look at when you want a genuine Amtico floor that is built to take a beating. It sits above Spacia and below premium Signature, with a heavier wear layer, a longer warranty, antimicrobial protection and the most tactile, deeply textured surfaces in the mainstream Amtico range. This guide explains what Form is, how its design and texture work, the specification that justifies the step up from Spacia, and where it fits against the rest of the Amtico family.

Grosvenor Flooring is an Amtico Approved Retail Partner. We supply and fit Form on busy family homes and light commercial projects, so this guide is written from a retailer’s perspective – what Form genuinely delivers over Spacia, and when that step up is worth paying for.

What Is Amtico Form?

Form is a glue-down (dryback) luxury vinyl tile range, bonded directly to a prepared subfloor with Amtico’s specialist adhesive. Like every Amtico collection it is designed and manufactured at the brand’s factory in Coventry.

Form’s defining feature is a 0.7mm wear layer – a clear step up from Spacia’s 0.55mm – protected by Amtico’s PUR surface coating. That heavier wear layer is what gives Form its 30-year residential warranty and its suitability for light commercial use as well as the busiest family homes. Form also adds integrated antimicrobial protection, built into the product rather than applied as a treatment.

The other thing that sets Form apart is texture. Form carries the most deeply embossed, tactile surfaces in the mainstream Amtico range – the grain and surface detail you can feel underfoot, not just see. For buyers who want a wood-effect floor that genuinely reads as wood, Form’s texture is a large part of the appeal.

The Amtico Form Design Range

Form’s design library is built around wood and stone effects, with the emphasis firmly on realistic, characterful wood:

Wood-effect planks – oak leads the range, in a spread of tones from pale and limed through warm mid-browns to deeper timbers, alongside other species and characterful, reclaimed-look finishes. The deep embossing is the point here: Form’s planks are textured to follow the grain closely, giving a surface that feels convincing as well as looking it.

Stone and tile effects – a selection of stone and mineral looks in tile formats, for kitchens, utility rooms and hallways where a stone aesthetic suits the room.

Form supports plank and tile layouts and can be laid in herringbone and parquet patterns with a skilled fitter. Our Amtico laying patterns guide and Amtico herringbone laying patterns guide cover the options, and our Amtico designs, colours and patterns guide gives the wider view across the brand.

Amtico Form Specification

Form’s headline specification is a 0.7mm wear layer with Amtico’s PUR surface coating, a 30-year residential warranty, and integrated antimicrobial protection. The 0.7mm wear layer is the practical difference from Spacia: more material between daily life and the printed design, which translates into a longer service life and the confidence to use Form in light commercial settings.

Form is a glue-down tile in Amtico’s standard residential gauge, compatible with underfloor heating subject to Amtico’s temperature limits. The antimicrobial protection inhibits the growth of bacteria on the floor surface – a useful feature in kitchens, and one of the reasons Form appeals to light commercial buyers as well as homeowners.

Where Form Fits in the Amtico Range

Amtico produces four glue-down residential ranges. Read by wear layer: First is 0.3mm with a 15-year warranty, Spacia is 0.55mm with 20 years, Form is 0.7mm with a 30-year warranty, and Signature tops the range at 1.0mm with a lifetime warranty.

Form’s natural comparison is with Spacia below it and Signature above it. Spacia is the everyday all-rounder and suits most homes well; Form earns its premium when a home is genuinely high-traffic – large families, pets, busy open-plan spaces – or when you want the longer warranty, the antimicrobial protection or the deeper texture. Signature steps up again to a 1mm wear layer, the deepest design library and bespoke layout options, at a noticeably higher price point.

There is also Amtico Click Smart, the rigid core click range – but Click Smart is a 0.55mm product, so if you want Form’s 0.7mm wear layer it has to be glue-down.

Practical rule of thumb: choose Form when durability and longevity are the priority and the home or space is genuinely demanding. If the home is typical rather than high-traffic, Spacia usually does the same job for less.

Installation: What to Know Before You Buy

Form is a glue-down LVT and needs a flat, dry, thoroughly prepared subfloor. As with all thin glued tiles, any ridge, lump or nail head will eventually telegraph through, so proper subfloor preparation – and self-levelling compound where needed – is essential to the finished result.

Form must be installed with Amtico’s approved adhesive system. Using the wrong adhesive is a common cause of warranty rejection, and it is exactly the kind of detail an Amtico Approved Retail Partner gets right. Amtico’s warranties, including Form’s 30-year cover, are conditional on professional installation by an approved retailer – which is the mechanism that validates your warranty.

Form in High-Traffic Homes and Light Commercial Use

Form’s 0.7mm wear layer and 30-year warranty make it the Amtico range built for demanding environments. In a busy family home it copes with the constant traffic of kitchens, hallways and open-plan living, and the deeper wear layer gives a longer margin before any refresh is needed.

For light commercial settings – offices, small retail spaces, boutiques, consulting rooms – Form is a sensible specification, combining a residential aesthetic with the durability and antimicrobial protection these spaces need. For heavier commercial use, Amtico Access (the commercial loose-lay range) is the more appropriate choice.

As with any LVT, fit felt pads under furniture and use sliders for heavy items, and keep a mat in kitchen sink and appliance zones.

Amtico Form and Underfloor Heating

Form is compatible with both wet and electric underfloor heating systems, subject to Amtico’s maximum surface temperature of 27°C. As a thin glued-down tile it transfers heat efficiently. Use a floor sensor rather than a room thermostat, and follow Amtico’s commissioning procedure – a gradual ramp-up and proper cool-down before installation. Our guide to Amtico flooring and underfloor heating covers the detail.

Warranty

Amtico provides a 30-year residential warranty on Form when the floor is correctly installed and maintained – longer than Spacia’s 20 years, reflecting the heavier wear layer. Light commercial use carries different terms specific to the installation grade. The warranty can be invalidated by incorrect adhesive, exceeding the 27°C underfloor heating limit, water ingress from poor detailing, or installation over an unsuitable subfloor. Register the installation with Amtico through your approved retailer at the point of fitting.

Is Amtico Form Right for Your Project?

Form is the right choice if your home is genuinely high-traffic, you want a longer warranty than Spacia offers, you value the antimicrobial protection, you want the deepest, most tactile texture in the mainstream Amtico range, or you are specifying a light commercial space. It is the range we recommend when durability and longevity are the leading concern.

It is the wrong choice if your home is typical rather than demanding – Spacia usually does the same job for less – or if the floor is primarily a design statement and you want the deepest design library and bespoke options, in which case Signature is the better fit. If you need a floating click floor rather than glue-down, look at Click Smart.

Amtico Form Care and Maintenance

Form is a low-maintenance floor once correctly installed. Sweep or vacuum without a beater bar to lift loose grit, and damp-mop with a pH-neutral floor cleaner weekly or as needed. Avoid steam mops at high temperature, abrasive scouring pads, wax polishes and any cleaner not rated for LVT.

Form’s deeper texture holds slightly more in the grain than a smoother floor, so a soft brush or vacuum on the textured designs keeps them looking their best. Fit felt pads under furniture and use sliders for heavy items. Our guide to cleaning Amtico flooring covers the full routine.

Amtico Form in Real Projects

Three customer scenarios account for most of the Form we supply and fit:

Busy family home: the most common Form project is a high-traffic family household – young children, pets, open-plan living – where the customer wants a floor that will not show its age within a few years. The 0.7mm wear layer and 30-year warranty give a longer margin than Spacia before any refresh is needed, and the antimicrobial protection is a genuine draw for families specifying the floor through a kitchen.

Light commercial space: Form is regularly specified for small offices, consulting rooms, boutiques and other light commercial settings. It pairs a residential-quality aesthetic with the heavier wear layer and antimicrobial protection these spaces need, so a business gets a floor that looks like a home interior but performs to a commercial-leaning standard.

Hard-working kitchen-diner: the room that takes the most punishment in a typical home. Customers who have had a thinner floor wear through in a previous kitchen often step up to Form specifically for the 0.7mm wear layer, and the deeper, more tactile embossing on Form’s wood designs is a large part of the appeal in a room where the floor is on show.

Amtico Form Frequently Asked Questions

What wear layer does Amtico Form have?

Form has a 0.7mm wear layer protected by Amtico’s PUR surface coating – heavier than Spacia’s 0.55mm and lighter than Signature’s 1.0mm. It is what gives Form its 30-year residential warranty and its suitability for light commercial use.

What is the difference between Amtico Form and Spacia?

Form steps up from Spacia on three fronts: a heavier 0.7mm wear layer (versus 0.55mm), a longer 30-year warranty (versus 20 years), and added antimicrobial protection. Form also has the deeper, more tactile texture. Spacia is the everyday all-rounder; Form earns its premium in genuinely high-traffic homes and light commercial spaces.

Can Amtico Form be used commercially?

Form is suitable for light commercial settings – offices, small retail, boutiques and consulting rooms – thanks to its 0.7mm wear layer and antimicrobial protection. For heavier commercial environments, Amtico Access (the commercial loose-lay range) is the more appropriate choice.

Does Amtico Form have antimicrobial protection?

Yes – Form includes integrated antimicrobial protection that inhibits bacterial growth on the floor surface. It is built into the product rather than applied as a treatment, which makes it useful in kitchens and a draw for light commercial buyers.

Can Amtico Form be laid in herringbone?

Yes. Form can be laid in herringbone and parquet patterns when fitted by a skilled installer. See our Amtico herringbone laying patterns guide for the pattern options.

Is Amtico Form worth the step up from Spacia?

If your home is genuinely high-traffic, or you want the longer 30-year warranty, the antimicrobial protection or the deeper texture, then yes. If your home is typical rather than demanding, Spacia delivers excellent results for less. The step up is worth it when the environment is demanding enough to use the extra wear layer.
