Amtico Signature Guide

Amtico Signature Guide – Grosvenor Flooring

Amtico Signature: The Complete UK Buyer’s Guide

Signature is the premium tier of the Amtico range – the collection chosen when the floor is the centrepiece of the project rather than just a practical surface. It carries the thickest wear layer in mainstream UK LVT, the deepest design library Amtico produces, and the option of fully bespoke layouts through the Designers’ Choice collection. This guide explains what Signature is, how its design and bespoke options work, the specification that sets it apart, and where it fits against the rest of the Amtico family.

Grosvenor Flooring is an Amtico Approved Retail Partner. We supply and fit Signature on premium residential projects, so this guide is written from a retailer’s perspective – what Signature genuinely delivers, where a more affordable range would do the same job, and what to plan for when you are specifying a statement floor.

What Is Amtico Signature?

Signature is a glue-down (dryback) luxury vinyl tile range, bonded directly to a prepared subfloor with Amtico’s specialist adhesive. Like every Amtico collection it is designed and manufactured at the brand’s factory in Coventry.

What sets Signature apart is its 1.0mm wear layer protected by Quantum Guard Elite, Amtico’s polyurethane reinforced (PUR) surface coating. At 1mm, that wear layer is the thickest in the Amtico range and among the thickest in UK luxury vinyl – which is why Signature is the only Amtico residential range to carry a lifetime residential warranty when professionally installed. It is built to be a once-in-a-generation floor.

Beyond durability, Signature is the range built for design freedom. It has the widest catalogue of woods, stones and abstract surfaces Amtico produces, and it is the range that unlocks bespoke layout work – borders, feature strips, motifs and pre-designed parquet through Designers’ Choice.

The Amtico Signature Design Library

Signature has the deepest design library of any Amtico collection, spread across three families:

Wood-effect planks – an extensive oak palette running from pale limed and bleached tones through warm mid-browns to deep, dark timbers, alongside other species and reclaimed-look finishes. The grain embossing on Signature is the most refined Amtico produces, and many designs are registered-emboss, meaning the texture follows the printed grain for a more convincing surface.

Stone and abstract – marble, limestone, slate, concrete, terrazzo and contemporary abstract surfaces in a range of tile formats. This is where Signature’s design-led credentials show: the stone and marble designs in particular are specified heavily on high-end residential and hospitality projects.

Laying patterns and feature work – Signature supports herringbone, chevron, parquet and large-format layouts, and it is the range used for bordered floors and feature strips. Our Amtico laying patterns guide and Amtico herringbone laying patterns guide cover the pattern options, and our Amtico designs, colours and patterns guide gives the wider view across the brand.

Designers’ Choice: Amtico Signature’s Bespoke Collection

Designers’ Choice is a sub-collection within Signature – a set of pre-designed bordered and patterned floors that take the guesswork out of specifying a feature layout. Rather than designing a border from scratch, you choose a ready-made design that pairs a central field with a coordinating border or motif.

It is genuinely distinctive: no other mainstream LVT brand offers an equivalent ready-designed bordered-floor system. For hallways, reception rooms and feature spaces where a plain plank layout would feel underwhelming, Designers’ Choice gives a high-end, designed result without the cost and risk of a fully custom commission. Because it is part of Signature, every Designers’ Choice floor carries the same 1mm wear layer and lifetime warranty.

If you want a feature floor but are not sure whether to go fully bespoke or use a Designers’ Choice layout, it is worth discussing the project with us before committing – the right answer depends on the room, the budget and how much of a statement you want to make.

Amtico Signature Specification

The headline specification for Signature is a 1.0mm wear layer with Quantum Guard Elite PUR coating, and a lifetime residential warranty. The 1mm wear layer is what separates Signature from every other Amtico residential range: it absorbs more years of traffic, resists scratching and scuffing more effectively, and underpins the lifetime cover.

Signature is a glue-down tile in Amtico’s standard residential gauge, compatible with underfloor heating subject to Amtico’s temperature limits. The Quantum Guard Elite coating gives strong stain and surface-mark resistance. In use it behaves like the premium floor it is: solid and quiet underfoot, slow to show any wear and easy to keep looking new.

Where Signature Fits in the Amtico Range

Amtico produces four glue-down residential ranges, and Signature is the flagship. The clearest way to read the line-up is by wear layer and warranty:

Amtico First has a 0.3mm wear layer and a 15-year warranty. Amtico Spacia steps up to 0.55mm and 20 years. Amtico Form moves to 0.7mm, a 30-year warranty and antimicrobial protection. Signature sits at the top with a 1.0mm wear layer and a lifetime residential warranty, plus the deepest design library and bespoke layout options no other range offers.

There is also Amtico Click Smart, a rigid core click range for renovations and floating-floor projects – but Click Smart is a 0.55mm range, so if you want Signature’s design freedom and durability it has to be glue-down.

Practical rule of thumb: choose Signature when the floor is a deliberate design decision – a feature hallway, a statement reception room, a whole-home project where you want the best and the longest warranty. If the priority is a hard-wearing everyday floor rather than a designed one, Form or Spacia deliver excellent results for less.

Installation: What to Know Before You Buy

Signature is a glue-down LVT and needs a flat, dry, thoroughly prepared subfloor. With feature layouts the subfloor matters even more – borders, parquet and herringbone expose any unevenness, so budget for proper preparation and self-levelling compound where the surface is not perfect.

Signature must be installed with Amtico’s approved adhesive system, and bespoke or bordered layouts need a fitter experienced in pattern work. This is exactly where an Amtico Approved Retail Partner matters: Amtico’s warranties, including the lifetime cover on Signature, are conditional on professional installation by an approved retailer. Buying through an approved retailer is the mechanism that validates your warranty.

Signature in Feature Spaces and High-Traffic Areas

Signature’s 1mm wear layer means it is rated for the busiest areas of a home and for light commercial use. In practice it is most often specified in the rooms a home is judged by – entrance halls, reception rooms, kitchen-diners and open-plan living spaces – where the combination of heavy traffic and the desire for a designed finish makes the premium worthwhile.

As with any LVT, fit felt pads under furniture and use sliders for heavy items. The 1mm wear layer gives Signature the most generous margin in the Amtico range before any refresh is needed – it is genuinely a long-term floor.

Amtico Signature and Underfloor Heating

Signature is compatible with both wet and electric underfloor heating systems, subject to Amtico’s maximum surface temperature of 27°C. As a glued-down tile it transfers heat efficiently. Use a floor sensor rather than a room thermostat, and follow Amtico’s commissioning procedure – a gradual ramp-up and a proper cool-down before installation. Our guide to Amtico flooring and underfloor heating has the detail.

Warranty

Amtico provides a lifetime residential warranty on Signature when the floor is correctly installed and maintained – the longest cover in the Amtico range, and the reason Signature is positioned as a once-in-a-generation floor. Commercial use carries different, shorter terms specific to the installation grade. The warranty can be invalidated by incorrect adhesive, exceeding the 27°C underfloor heating limit, water ingress from poor detailing, or installation over an unsuitable subfloor. Register the installation with Amtico through your approved retailer at the point of fitting.

Is Amtico Signature Right for Your Project?

Signature is the right choice if the floor is a design decision rather than just a practical one, you want the longest warranty and thickest wear layer Amtico produces, you are considering a bordered or bespoke layout, or you are specifying a feature space where a plain floor would not do the room justice. It is the range we recommend when a customer’s brief is led by design.

It is the wrong choice if your priority is a hard-wearing everyday floor at a sensible price – Spacia and Form both deliver excellent durability for less – or if you need a floating click floor, in which case Click Smart is the range to look at.

Amtico Signature Care and Maintenance

Signature is a low-maintenance floor once correctly installed. Sweep or vacuum without a beater bar to lift loose grit, and damp-mop with a pH-neutral floor cleaner weekly or as needed. Avoid steam mops at high temperature, abrasive scouring pads, wax polishes and any cleaner not rated for LVT.

Fit felt pads under all furniture and use sliders to move heavy items. On bordered and feature floors, take extra care around the border lines where two designs meet. Our guide to cleaning Amtico flooring covers the full routine and specific stain treatments.

Amtico Signature in Real Projects

Three customer scenarios dominate Signature selection in the projects we fit:

Feature hallway with a bordered floor: the entrance hall is the room a home is judged by, and it is the most common Signature project. A Designers’ Choice bordered layout – a patterned or herringbone centre framed by a coordinating border – turns a hallway into a designed space rather than just a practical surface. Because the hall takes heavy traffic, the 1mm wear layer and lifetime warranty are genuinely used here, not just specified for status.

Whole-home premium renovation: period properties and high-end renovations where the brief is led by design and the owner wants the best floor available, specified consistently throughout. Signature’s depth of design library means a single collection can carry a coherent scheme across every room, and the lifetime warranty suits owners who intend the floor to be permanent.

Open-plan reception room as a statement floor: large living and entertaining spaces where a herringbone, chevron or parquet Signature layout becomes the defining feature of the room. The bigger the floor area, the more a pattern earns its place – and Signature’s dedicated pattern formats and refined embossing are what make the result read as a crafted floor rather than a repeating print.

Amtico Signature Frequently Asked Questions

What wear layer does Amtico Signature have?

Signature has a 1.0mm wear layer protected by Quantum Guard Elite PUR coating – the thickest in the Amtico range and among the thickest in UK luxury vinyl. It is what underpins Signature’s lifetime residential warranty.

What is Amtico Designers’ Choice?

Designers’ Choice is a sub-collection within Signature – a set of pre-designed bordered and patterned floors. Rather than designing a feature layout from scratch, you choose a ready-made design pairing a central field with a coordinating border or motif. It is unique to Amtico and carries the same 1mm wear layer and lifetime warranty as the rest of Signature.

What is the difference between Amtico Signature and Spacia?

Signature has a 1.0mm wear layer and a lifetime warranty; Spacia has a 0.55mm wear layer and a 20-year warranty. Signature also has a deeper design library and bespoke layout options. Spacia is the everyday all-rounder; Signature is the premium, design-led choice. For a hard-wearing family floor Spacia is usually enough; for a statement floor Signature earns the premium.

Can Amtico Signature be laid in herringbone or parquet?

Yes. Signature is the Amtico range most associated with feature layouts – herringbone, chevron, parquet and bordered floors are all part of its remit. See our Amtico herringbone laying patterns guide and Amtico laying patterns guide.

Is Amtico Signature worth the premium?

If the floor is a design decision, yes – the 1mm wear layer, lifetime warranty, deeper design library and bespoke layout options are all things the cheaper ranges cannot match. If you simply want a durable everyday floor, Form or Spacia give excellent results for less. The premium is worth it when design and longevity are the point.

Does Signature work over underfloor heating?

Yes – Signature is compatible with wet and electric underfloor heating subject to Amtico’s 27°C maximum surface temperature. Use a floor sensor and follow Amtico’s commissioning procedure.
