Flooring in Macclesfield – Amtico, Karndean, Invictus & Engineered Wood

4.8 / 5 · from 145+ Google reviews

Macclesfield’s silk-weaving past is still visible in its streets of three-storey weavers’ cottages. Look up and you will see the long top-floor windows that once lit the looms. Add Victorian terraces, family homes in Tytherington and stone cottages towards the Peak District. The result is one of the most varied towns we work in.

Grosvenor Flooring is a Retail Partner for Amtico and Karndean. We also supply Invictus, Project Floors, our own GF range and engineered wood across the SK10 and SK11 postcodes. Blake Williams, our Operations Director, surveys every Macclesfield home.

A Home Visit Anywhere in Macclesfield

Our showroom is around 30 minutes away in Altrincham, so Blake brings the service to you. In an old weaver’s cottage he will look at uneven boards and narrow stairs. In a newer home he will check the screed and any heating. He trained as an accountant at Baker Tilly, so you get a written quote with every element itemised.

Carrying boards up three flights of narrow stairs is all part of the job for a regular team of fitters we know and trust. Our supply and fit service page explains the rest.

Flooring for Macclesfield Homes

Weavers’ cottages in the town centre: tall, narrow homes with old timber floors, where a ply overlay and a warm oak-effect floor work well.
Victorian terraces around the station and Hurdsfield: period homes suited to herringbone in the hall and a practical LVT in the kitchen.
Tytherington, Upton Priory and Broken Cross: family houses and newer estates, often with extensions and underfloor heating.
Bollington, Rainow and Sutton: stone cottages and farmhouses on the edge of the Peak District, where muddy boots call for a tough floor.

Amtico in Macclesfield

Our Amtico range includes Signature, Spacia, Form, First, Click Smart and Access. A Signature flagstone design suits a Bollington cottage kitchen, while feature stripping can frame a Victorian hallway.

The Amtico floor fitter page covers installation. Our Wilmslow Amtico guide is the nearest to Macclesfield.

Karndean in Macclesfield

Karndean options include Art Select, Van Gogh, Van Gogh Rigid Core, Knight Tile, Knight Tile Rigid Core and Palio Essenza. Rigid core is a good fit for the upper floors of weavers’ cottages, where boards are sound but not perfectly flat.

See the Karndean floor fitter page, Amtico vs Karndean and our Wilmslow Karndean guide.

Invictus, Project Floors & GF

Invictus gives you four premium LVT ranges at a sharper price. Our Invictus floor fitter page explains them. Project Floors is the hardest-wearing option for walkers’ boot rooms.

Our own GF range matches leading brands for less. Textures and Elements bring further wood-effect designs in plank and herringbone. Free samples are available on GF, Textures and Elements. The LVT floor fitter page has more.

Engineered Wood in Macclesfield

Oak floors and Macclesfield’s heritage homes go well together. Our own GF engineered wood comes in plank, herringbone, chevron and Versailles. Every board can be compared in the Wood Room. Our guide to the best engineered wood for period properties is a useful read.

Seen a Ted Todd or Woodpecker floor you like? GF may offer a close match. Our Wilmslow Ted Todd guide and looking for a Woodpecker alternative? explain how. Fitting is on the engineered wood floor fitter page.

Can I See the Floors Before I Buy?

Yes. The Altrincham showroom at 82 Stamford New Road is around 30 minutes from Macclesfield via the A538 through Wilmslow. It is a 24/7 Smart Showroom, so request a door code and visit when you have the time.

Flooring in Macclesfield – Frequently Asked Questions

Can you fit flooring in a weaver’s cottage?

Yes. Old floorboards are usually overlaid with ply first so the new floor sits flat. Blake also checks stair access for materials.

Do you cover Bollington and Rainow?

Yes, along with Sutton, Gawsworth and the rest of the Macclesfield area.

What floor suits a cottage near the Peak District?

A tough, wood-effect LVT by the door and engineered oak in the living room is a popular combination.

How far is your showroom?

Half an hour by car through Wilmslow. Being a Smart Showroom, it has no closing time.

Can I compare Ted Todd with GF?

Yes. Bring a Ted Todd sample to the Wood Room and hold it against the closest GF board.

Is rigid core LVT suitable upstairs?

Usually. It floats over an underlay and copes with boards that are not perfectly level.

Which samples can I have for free?

GF, Textures and Elements.

Who comes to measure?

Blake Williams, our Operations Director.
