Kahrs and Parador are the two European engineered wood brands you can see side by side in our Altrincham Wood Room. Kahrs is Swedish and has one of the biggest engineered catalogues anywhere. Parador is German and has a smaller, design-led range built around wide planks. Both are bought from us on a quote, so the choice really comes down to look, construction and pattern.

Where they differ

Range. Kahrs is roughly twice the size, so it covers more colours, finishes and grades. Parador’s range is tighter and more trend-led.

Construction. Kahrs builds most of its floors as 3-layer parquet, which is very stable. It uses a 2-layer build with a 3.5mm oak top for Piazza. Parador’s oak top layers run from 2.5mm on Classic 3025 to 3.6mm on Harmonia.

Patterns. Kahrs offers herringbone through Life Authentic Herringbone and the Piazza range. Parador offers Trendtime 3 herringbone in engineered wood, vinyl and laminate, plus six chevron designs.

Entry price. Kahrs Life puts a real oak surface on a slim veneer floor at a lower price than either brand’s parquet. Parador’s entry series is Basic 11-5.

Warranty. Kahrs varies from 20 to 30 years by collection. Parador engineered wood carries 25 years residential.

What you can see in Altrincham

Our Wood Room holds Kahrs from the Piazza, Life Authentic Herringbone, Ingresso, Smaland and Da Capo collections. It also shows five Parador ranges: Classic 3025, Classic 3060, Trendtime 3 herringbone, Trendtime 4 and a chevron. It is open 24/7 by smart lock. Samples of both brands are for viewing in the showroom and are not posted out.

Which to choose

Kahrs suits you if you want the widest choice, a very stable 3-layer floor for underfloor heating, a Scandinavian look or a budget-friendly premium option through Kahrs Life.

Parador suits you if you want a light, wide plank for a modern space, a chevron, or a herringbone you can carry into wet rooms in vinyl or laminate.
